General Superintendent – Substation Construction (Confidential Opportunity)
Location: Chicago, IL OR Columbus, OH
The Opportunity
A leading and fast-growing power infrastructure contractor is seeking a General Superintendent – Substation Construction to oversee field execution across a portfolio of high-voltage substation projects in the Midwest.
This is a hands-on leadership role focused on driving field performance, safety, and project delivery, ideal for someone who thrives in complex builds and wants to play a key role in delivering critical grid infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day field operations across multiple substation construction projects
- Oversee execution from site mobilization through commissioning and energization
- Drive a strong safety-first culture across all crews and site teams
- Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards
- Coordinate closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors
- Supervise and mentor foremen, crew leads, and field personnel
- Support planning activities including lookaheads, resource allocation, and scheduling
- Manage subcontractors and ensure alignment with site standards and expectations
- Maintain strong communication with internal teams and client representatives on-site

Ideal Candidate Profile
- 8–15+ years of experience in substation, T&D, or heavy civil construction
- Strong background in field supervision (Foreman, Superintendent, or General Superintendent level)
- Experience delivering high-voltage substation projects preferred
- Proven ability to lead multiple crews and coordinate complex site activities
- Solid understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and safety practices
- Experience working with utilities or EPC contractors
- Willingness to travel across the Midwest as required
