Project Accountant - Commercial Construction

This is with a well-established Commercial General Contractor in South Florida seeking an experienced Project Accountant to support ongoing commercial construction projects. This role is fully in-office and ideal for someone with a strong foundation in construction accounting who values consistency, accuracy, and long-term stability.

About the Role

Responsible for the billing process, subcontractor and project payables, and tracking the financial progress of projects through reporting and analysis in accordance with company and client contractual requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle project accounting across multiple active jobs
• Prepare and process AIA billings and client invoicing
• Handle subcontractor pay applications, lien releases, and project payables
• Track project costs, budgets, and financial performance
• Maintain accurate financial records within Procore and internal systems
• Support WIP reporting, financial tracking, and job cost analysis
• Ensure compliance with contract terms and financial guidelines
• Collaborate with Project Managers and internal teams on financial status and reporting

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience as a Project Accountant with a Commercial General Contractor (GC)
• Must have U.S.-based experience working on commercial construction projects
• NO subcontractor-only experience will be considered
• Experience with AIA billing and construction accounting processes
• Proficiency with Procore or similar construction management software
• Strong tenure and proven longevity with employers
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, etc.)
• Proficient in Microsoft Word
