Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Provide interim leadership and oversight for administrative staff, ensuring daily operations continue smoothly during the temporary assignment; Support onboarding and training of temporary staff or student workers as needed.

Job Duty 2 -
Coordinate and prioritize workflow across the administrative team to maintain timely, accurate service delivery; Serve as a point of escalation for operational questions, issues, or process bottlenecks.

Job Duty 3 -
Plan and execute meetings and events.

Job Duty 4 -
Oversee scheduling, meeting logistics, event coordination, and general office support functions; Monitor inboxes, requests, and service queues to maintain consistent response times and followthrough.

Job Duty 5 -
Manage purchasing, travel, reimbursements, and other routine business operations to ensure continuity; Assist with document preparation, communications, and other administrative tasks requiring timely attention.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior responsibility for coordinating office operations such as scheduling, event logistics, and service delivery.
  • Prior experience with event management

  • Ability to coach and support administrative team members during periods of transition or change.
  • Proficiency with business systems such as Workday, Concur, or similar platforms

Other Information

The College of Engineering is seeking to fill a temporary Administrative Manager position. The role will provide direct supervision and daytoday leadership to an administrative support team, including workload distribution, providing guidance and performance feedback, and serving as an escalation point for operational issues. This position will serve as the primary point of contact for administrative operations during a period of transition, ensuring continuity of operations and coverage.

The Administrative Manager will oversee daily administrative operations, monitor service levels, and ensure consistent, highquality support for faculty, staff, students, and leadership. The role will also collaborate with internal stakeholders such as HR, finance, facilities, IT, and central offices to coordinate administrative needs, update leadership, and implement interim process improvements to address workflow gaps as needed.

This is a temporary position with an anticipated duration of up to eight months.

Department Information

The College of Computing was established in 1990 as the first such College at a public university and the second in the United States. Since that time, the college has grown into a world-class leader in research and education. The graduate CS program is currently ranked 6th and the undergraduate 5th nationally by U.S. News and World Report.   • Liaise with staff at the student residence, students, and program director to address any concerns about student conduct, housing rules and student use of facilities/amenities with an aim to maintain positive relations and experience.
  • Work with the program director to organize program co- and extra-curricular activities at host institution, the student residence, and in the city.
  • Serve as the Teaching Assistant for two courses (CS 2340, CS 4400); serve as a backup instructor in the event of illness of the course instructor
  • Go with students to physician appointments or hospital/clinic visits as needed.
  • Organize and attend program social events.

Established July 1, 2023, the College of Computing, Data Science, and Society (CDSS) is the first new college at Berkeley in over 50 years. CDSS offers outstanding undergraduate major programs in Computer Science, Data Science, and Statistics. Over 1,500 students graduated with a degree in these majors in Spring 2024, and one in four held a second major in another discipline. Responsibilities:



CDSS is seeking outstanding instructors to be appointed in the non-Senate Lecturer title series who can teach small and large courses. We are particularly interested in instructors who can teach courses that satisfy the Human and Social Dynamics of Data and Technology requirement for the college. This requirement is designed for the purpose of developing an understanding of how technology and data interact with human and societal contexts, including ethical considerations and applications such as education, health, law, natural resources, and public policy. Examples include: Anthropology of Science, Data, and Technology; Artificial Humanities: AI, Language, and Fiction; and Data and Justice.

Position description

The Department of Nuclear Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley is generating an applicant pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach regular and Summer Session courses, should an opening arise. In addition to classroom/laboratory teaching and preparation, general duties may include (but are not limited to) managing and mentoring graders and/or graduate student instructors (teaching assistants), holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and maintaining a course website.



We are also seeking applicants for hourly Teacher Special Programs (TSP), should an opening arise. The TSP instructor's principal responsibility will be overseeing capstone projects in the Master of Engineering (MEng) program of the Nuclear Engineering Department. This will include the following tasks: Designing and proposing capstone projects. Helping match students into suitable projects. Meeting with each capstone project team on a regular basis to review results, manage interpersonal aspects, and maintain efficient progress. Provide critical, constructive feedback on students' written reports and oral presentations. Coordinating and participating in the MS Plan II exam of each student at the end of the capstone project period.
