Second Shift Lead

We are seeking a hands-on Second Shift Lead to work alongside the team while helping coordinate daily operations. This role is ideal for someone who leads by actively operating equipment, supporting production, and keeping the shift running smoothly while ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
Hands-On Production Support
- Actively operate forklifts and other equipment throughout the shift
- Work side-by-side with team members to meet production goals
- Step in where needed to keep workflow moving efficiently
Team Guidance (On-the-Floor Leadership)
- Provide real-time direction, support, and coaching to team members
- Help train new employees and reinforce proper procedures
- Serve as the go-to resource for questions and problem-solving during the shift
Workflow Coordination
- Help execute daily production schedules and adjust priorities as needed
- Identify bottlenecks and quickly resolve issues to minimize downtime
- Ensure materials, equipment, and staffing are aligned with production needs
Safety & Compliance
- Lead by example in following all safety policies and procedures
- Ensure forklift inspections, safe operation, and housekeeping standards are consistently maintained
- Address safety concerns immediately and communicate issues to management
Equipment & Work Area Management
- Ensure forklifts and equipment are properly used, inspected, and maintained
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, including proper stacking and storage
Documentation & Communication
- Assist with completing shift reports, production tracking, and required paperwork
- Communicate shift updates, challenges, and priorities to supervisors and the next shift
Continuous Improvement
- Suggest practical improvements to increase efficiency, quality, and workflow
- Support implementation of process changes on the floor
Additional Duties
- Perform other tasks as assigned by management
Qualifications
- Experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or production environment
- Strong forklift operation skills
- Previous lead or informal leadership experience preferred
- Ability to work hands-on while guiding a team
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork
