POSITION SUMMARY

To provide high quality Nuclear Medicine procedures to our patients and physicians in a respectful and efficient manner while providing those services in a safe and clean environment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education / Training:
Earned a Nuclear Medicine diploma or degree from a college or university. Must be in compliance with CE Requirements. Must be CNMT or NMTCN eligible.
BLS is required within 90 days of hire.

Workplace Experience:
Preference of at least one year of work experience in hospital environment working in Nuclear Medicine after graduation and accreditation; however, willing to train.

Equipment and Skills Training:
Will train on specific equipment and processes utilized at Williamson Medical Center.

Physical Environment:
Radiation safety and universal precautions practiced in a multi modality imaging department.

Physical Effort:
Possesses the ability to perform multifunctional tasks to include: physically manipulate and operate
equipment, assist in the movement of patients from wheelchairs and stretchers to table; bend, twist, stoop; lift 20 pounds; communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing; make appropriate judgment decisions in urgent or emergency situations; and demonstrate emotional stability and psychological health in day to day interaction with fellow employees, patients, their families, and physicians. Must be willing to take call for STAT studies after hours and on weekends and must be available within 30 minutes.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

1. Checks patient identification and physician order to ensure accuracy of request before proceeding with study.
2. Questions female patients (ages 12-50) regarding the possibility of pregnancy and properly documents information in record.
3. Communicates potential or existing problems/opportunities to improve quality of care or services.
4. Strives to maintain the dignity of each patient by ensuring the patient is properly covered at all times; during exam and patient transport.
5. Seeks opportunities to assist in other areas during downtime periods and always makes good use of time.
6. Working environment is clean, organized, well stocked, and free of clutter.
7. Follows nuclear medicine isotope procedure process during the administration of an isotope.
8. Shows leadership and teamwork in difficult situations and makes appropriate decisions.
9. Implements new departmental procedures readily and without delay.
10. Volunteers for overtime and fill-in when needed.
11. Ensures the safety of patients by following all safety procedures while moving patients from wheelchair or stretcher to table and watching patient while on table.
12. Communicates and follows through with fellow employees to ensure that all requests from physicians and patients are completed.

Formal Education / Training:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. RCIS preferred (must have within 6 month of hire) or any TN state licensure that allows for the administration of medication. Must be in compliance with CE Requirements.
3. BLS within 90 days of hire.
4. Must respond to hospital within thirty minutes for "on call" requirements.

Workplace Experience:
At least one year of direct patient care experience

Equipment and Skills Training:
Meditech computer system, Site Rite, Proficient use of guidewires, catheters and other necessary supplies.

Physical Environment:
Hospital setting, sterile patient testing room(s)

Physical Effort:
• Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
• Prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping, and lifting (50 lbs.)
• Ability to transport patients on stretchers or beds up to 250lbs dependently or independently
• Make appropriate judgement decisions in urgent or emergency situations.
• Ability to work well under pressure response.

Assembles table for all procedures and maintains sterile field.
Demonstrates working knowledge of necessary equipment.
Ability to locate needed supplies/equipment in a timely manner.
Handles/ transports medications/ solutions safely and in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Documents accurately and timely.
Communicates with physician(s) and other team members (patient information, scheduling information, supplies needed)
Ability to reproduce exams on CD/film.
Seeks opportunities to assist in other areas during downtime periods and always makes good use of time.
Working environment is clean, organized, well stocked, and free of clutter.
Works well with fellow employees to provide the most efficient use of the equipment; thus enabling the throughput of patients to be more efficient.

Be the Nurse Supervisor You've Always Aspired to Be

• Assisting in the development and implementation of personalized patient care programs, policies, and procedures.
• Serving as the crucial liaison between administration, nursing management, and staff.
