Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg travel position on a 60-bed inpatient medical unit in Saint Louis, MO, requiring a minimum of 1 year of Med/Surg experience and an active MO or compact RN license.
Details
- Inpatient 7 West Medical unit with 60 beds
- Medical patient population including post-trauma, surgical, and complex medical comorbidities
- Patient ratio of 1:5 or 1:6
- Equipment used includes bladder scanner, vein finder, IV pumps, and wound vacs
- EMR: Epic
- Day shift, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required as needed to a similar or lower acuity unit
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license — must meet eligibility requirements for Missouri licensure or hold a current MO or compact RN license
- BLS certification from AHA required
- ACLS certification from AHA preferred
- Minimum 1 year of recent inpatient Med/Surg experience required
- Valid U.S. Social Security Number required
- No employment gaps of 90 or more days within the past 12 months
- Ability to stand and walk for the majority of the shift, with frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning of patients
- Ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs and pinch up to 15 lbs
Additional Information
- Provides direct patient care across all age groups including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes
- Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient comfort and outcomes
- Flu vaccination (or Mercy-approved exemption) is required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1 — declinations are not accepted
- Black scrubs required; no other scrub colors are acceptable
- RTO of up to 5 days is permitted but must be made up before the end of the assignment
- Only 1 holiday RTO request is allowed per assignment
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but may be subject to a reduced bill rate
- Local candidates within 50 miles are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts at this facility; after that, a 1-year separation or transfer to a facility outside the 50-mile radius is required
- The facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center, Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Level 1 STEMI Center
- High-risk exposure to blood and body fluids is expected in this role
