Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor Position in Physics

The Department of Physics in the College of Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor position. This is a full-time academic year, non-tenure-track position with primary responsibilities for undergraduate laboratory and classroom teaching.

Duties

It is expected the successful candidate will be an engaging and effective teacher with a strong commitment to student learning and success. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate physics courses including upper-level physics laboratory courses; providing assistance to senior capstone and research projects; collaborating with faculty to enhance the physics curriculum; academic advising; participating in department, university and professional service; and fostering interdisciplinary collaborations in education.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must have earned a PhD degree in physics or related field at the time of employment; have experience with teaching at the college level, particularly at the undergraduate level; possess excellent communication skills; demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence, and be authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong candidates will have outstanding credentials that clearly demonstrate their ability and commitment to undergraduate teaching, including in particular upper-division laboratory offerings; the experience and ability to teach upper-level undergraduate and graduate courses; and the potential to participate in scholarly activities.

Candidates from all physics backgrounds will be considered, including fields represented by current research interests in the department, including astrophysics/astronomy, AMO physics, computational physics, gravity, nuclear physics, and quantum information/computing/optics; or in closely-allied areas such as physics education research. Candidates with backgrounds in experimental physics or observational astrophysics are particularly welcomed. Successful candidates must show that they are able to effectively teach a wide selection of physics courses.

The Opportunity

The Department of Physics at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for two full-time, nine-month, benefits-eligible, non-tenure earning lecturer positions, anticipated to start in August 2026.

We anticipate that one will be a Lecturer, and one available at the Lecturer or Associate Lecturer level, based on experience. Each position is renewable annually, with the possibility of summer teaching assignments. We seek candidates to teach large-enrollment sections of introductory physics courses, introductory physical science and astronomy courses for a variety of majors, as well as upper-division undergraduate courses in physics and astronomy. The successful applicant is expected to demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and knowledge in curriculum and course design. Lecturers in the department typically have instructional duties and service assignments in accordance with the department's current equitable workload policy. Lecturers are encouraged to pursue independent research, including student research mentoring. Research, curriculum development, and other activities can reduce teaching assignments. There is a career path for lecturers with the possibility of promotion based on years of service and performance.

The UCF Department of Physics (physics/) is at the heart of our nation's SpaceU, offering a broad range of courses in physics, as well as in physics-related areas such as astronomy and planetary science, from general education physical sciences to advanced graduate-level topics. The Physical Therapist Assistant is part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver patient-centered physical rehabilitation services to patients, supports Physical Therapist in treatment procedures. Physical Therapist Assistants (PTA) are required to have supervision from a Physical Therapist to deliver services. PTAs communicate thoroughly and regularly with Physical Therapists to ensure delivery of plan of care. Completes all required documentation as per state/federal and facility guidelines.

A day in the life of a Physical Therapy Assistant at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

1. Demonstrates team approach to problem solving through frequent communication and collaboration on complex issues to provide appropriate care. 2. Ensures operation of equipment by using equipment consistent with equipment specifications; completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer¿s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; and calling for repairs. 3. Participates and represents PT staff on committees, as requested by supervisors. 4. Demonstrates appropriate knowledge in assessing the need for durable medical equipment for patients. Follows through with appropriate professionals to ensure proper fitting and educates patient on proper usage. 5. Maintains professional competence and keeps current with Physical Therapy trends through participation in continuing education, in-service programs, and professional staff sessions.6. Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements.7. Fosters good relationships and communications with all team members, physicians, patients, family/significant others and visitors.8. Assists with new Team Member orientation and provide key experiences to prepare Team Member independent performance of essential job functions. Problems are reported to designated Supervisor promptly. 9. Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.10. This is a casual position intended to provide coverage for open shifts due to PTO, leaves of absence, and other staffing needs.
