Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the teammate may be exposed to a client that exhibits physically aggressive behavior which can include kicking, pinching, punching, biting, etc. The teammate may have to use appropriate behavior management techniques frequently with a client under such circumstances. Such response requires agility, quick reflexes, and the ability to use physically evasive movement. The teammate will be constantly required to stand, walk, sit, grasp, reach, bend, kneel, crouch and squat. The teammate must be able to independently and repeatedly lift, move and carry objects weighing up to thirty-five (35) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near, far, and field of vision. Speech must be spoken in a manner easily understood by others. This position requires regular and punctual teammate presence.

How you'll contribute

The Therapist for the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is responsible for providing comprehensive psychotherapy and counseling services to individuals experiencing psychiatric and/or substance use disorders. This includes conducting individual, group, and family therapy sessions; participating actively in treatment planning, crisis intervention, and discharge or aftercare coordination. The Therapist collaborates closely with the interdisciplinary team-including physicians, nursing staff, and utilization review-to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. This position requires accurate and timely documentation, adherence to confidentiality and regulatory standards (HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2), and a commitment to supporting patients' emotional and behavioral health recovery in a structured, therapeutic setting.

Valley Springs Behavioral Health Hospital offers compassionate, high-quality inpatient and outpatient mental health and co-occurring treatment for teens, adults, and seniors. We provide a full-range of evidence-based medical and clinical services in a state-of-the-art healing environment. Programs include inpatient mental health and co-occurring treatment, Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP).

How you'll contribute

The Inpatient Therapist is a licensed mental health professional responsible for providing high-quality clinical services within an inpatient behavioral health setting. This position focuses on delivering individual, group, and family therapy to patients experiencing psychological, emotional, or substance use issues. The Therapist actively participates in treatment planning, crisis intervention, and interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure comprehensive patient care. The role also includes documentation, communication with families and referral sources, coordination of discharge planning and aftercare. The Therapist upholds confidentiality standards and complies with all clinical, legal, and regulatory guidelines, including HIPAA, TJC, and state-specific requirements. The Therapist position plays a key role in supporting the hospital's mission of delivering safe, effective, and compassionate behavioral healthcare.

North Alabama Shoals Hospital is a 198-bed general acute care facility boasting spacious, private rooms for all patients, a 24-hour emergency department, medical and oncology services; medical/surgical inpatient units; and short-stay surgery units. Shoals also operates the region's only in-patient acute rehabilitation facility, the J. W. Position Summary:
The Program Director of Behavioral Health oversees strategic planning, operations, and policy enforcement to ensure high-quality, cost-effective behavioral health services. They manage budgeting, supervise staff, and guide both short- and long-term program development to maintain financial and clinical excellence.

  • Manages all aspects of behavioral health unit operations, including staffing, care delivery, and facility maintenance.
  • Participates in strategic planning, budgeting, and marketing efforts to support program growth.

Administrative Support:

Position Responsibilities:

- Conduct initial and yearly comprehensive assessments (e.g., ABLLS-R, VB-MAPP, ABAS-3, caregiver interviews, behavior observations) with support from RBTs.

- Provide direct treatment as needed.

- Provide frequent supervision and direction to supervisees.

- Complete effective and prompt documentation for daily notes, assessments, individual treatment plans, and weekly progress updates.

- Participate in our mentorship network as either a mentee or mentor.

- Provide education and training for caregivers.

- Collaborate with other therapists (OT, PT, SLP, MH)

- Utilize our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system to create and maintain documentation and collect and monitor data.

- Maintain an ABA caseload in our North Charlotte center.

- Work with practicum students.


Our Ideal Candidate Will Have the Following Qualifications:

- Board Certification and licensure to work in North Carolina (candidates who have completed graduate coursework and fieldwork supervision requirements are encouraged to apply)

- Master’s degree

- Experience working with neurodivergent populations (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder) or those with developmental disabilities and complex behavioral support needs

- Supervisory experience with RBTs/technicians is preferred.

- Strong collaboration skills with a multidisciplinary team.

- Ability to make frequent, data-driven decisions for meaningful and personalized progress.

- Effective and professional communication skills for education and training of caregivers and supervisees.
