Job Description
A well-established law firm in Chicago, IL is seeking a Legal Assistant to join their team. This in-person position offers a salary range of $50,000–$70,000 and presents an exciting opportunity for someone with a law firm background who enjoys balancing legal support with front desk and office administrative responsibilities. The Legal Assistant will play a key role in supporting the firm’s top leaders while helping ensure the office runs smoothly and clients have a welcoming and professional experience. Responsibilities of the Legal Assistant:
- Welcome clients and visitors at the front desk, manage incoming calls, and route inquiries appropriately
- Provide day-to-day administrative support to partners, attorneys, and paralegals as needed
- Prepare, edit, and proofread legal correspondence, filings, and other documentation
- Assist attorneys with drafting and formatting motions, letters, and court-related documents
- Help coordinate litigation support tasks, including discovery materials and case documentation
- Manage attorney calendars, schedule meetings, and organize client conferences
- Organize and maintain case files, legal records, and documentation for easy access and accuracy
- Submit documents through court e-filing systems, including Cook County and other jurisdictions
- Assist with general office operations, including scanning, filing, document preparation, and administrative support as needed
Qualifications of the Legal Assistant:
- Previous experience working in a law firm or legal office environment strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, though equivalent experience will also be considered
- Strong attention to detail and ability to review documents carefully for accuracy and formatting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong grammar and professionalism
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a busy office environment
- Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and work independently
- Professional and personable demeanor when interacting with clients and visitors
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Strong organizational and time management skills with reliable follow-through
