Legal Assistant
Job Description
Our client, a reputable law firm in downtown Chicago, is searching for a Legal Assistant for one of their busiest practice groups. This is a great opportunity for an experienced real estate legal professional interested in joining a high-growth and value-driven firm.
Note that this role is currently remote but will likely shift to hybrid in the future.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and coordinate the legal team’s schedules, including hearings, depositions, meetings, and travel.
- Manage deadlines, court dates, and other time sensitive case information, utilizing docketing software.
- Open new client matters and maintain all electronic files and materials for the team.
- Draft closing documents, signature packets, escrow instructions, and other all supporting documents for closing binders.
- Utilize strong writing skills to prepare, edit and draft correspondence and other legal documents.
- Ensure due diligence documents are completed and maintained in a timely manner
- Manage and routinely update the new client database.
- Oversee invoice processing, reimbursements, and credit card reconciliations.
- Utilize Microsoft Office to redline and format documents (Word), coordinate meetings and deadlines (Outlook), and create presentations as needed (PowerPoint).
Requirements:
- 3+ years of law firm experience within commercial real estate REQUIRED. Candidates without this experience will not be considered.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and iManage required.
- Experience opening new client matters and overseeing critical deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills including the handling of confidential materials.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with a high level of detail.
