Nesco resource is seeking a Shipping Inspector for our client in Elmira NY, an independently owned and operated metal parts manufacturer.

Position Summary The Inspector is responsible for countersinking and inspecting metal parts to ensure compliance with customer specifications, company standards, and OSHA requirements.
This role plays a critical part in maintaining product quality and supporting safe manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities Handle and inspect metal parts with precision and accuracy for defects or imperfections.
Inspect parts at the end of grind lines for visual defects.
Utilize basic gauges and measuring instruments to verify tolerances per blueprints and sample parts.
Verify completion of operations and part identification through shop order tickets.
Maintain accurate inspection records.
Buff minor cosmetic blemishes during grinder downtime.
Perform Magnetic Particle (Magnaflux) inspections as required.
Conduct final inspection audits and specific job inspections (e.g., 1058, 1059, KB366).
Request completed work assignments from packaging.
Wear required PPE and comply with OSHA and company safety standards.
Perform routine preventative maintenance as needed.
Complete additional duties as assigned by supervision or management.
Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or vocational training (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
1–2 years of experience using manufacturing tools such as grinders, drills, presses, calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
Working knowledge of the manufacturing industry.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
Detail-oriented with strong hand-eye coordination.
Basic math and analytical skills.
Knowledge of OSHA and safety standards.
Strong problem-solving and time management abilities.
Ability to maintain a clean, hazard-free work area.
Flexibility to work various schedules, including nights and weekends.
Willingness to train and expand knowledge based on company requirements.
