Responsibilities Include::

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire, and train adequate and competent department staff.
  • Monitor and evaluate all aspects of the facility's medication management.
  • Meet with all clients as needed to ensure best practice care, treatment, and services are provided.
  • Communicate as needed with pertinent outside treatment professionals and in a manner consistent with MNA processes.
  • Ensure both admission and discharge processes are maintained to ensure continuity of care with respect to relevant nursing and medical issues.
  • Maintain the nursing schedule as per the facility and organization needs, including but not limited to managing vacation requests, sick leave, new hires, and additional staffing requirements.
  • Ensuring facilitation of performance evaluations as required for all direct reports and implementing merit increases as approved by the Clinical Director.
  • Produce and maintain communication which provides detailed and useful information on all current clients.
  • Ensure quality nursing notes are entered for each patient every shift.
  • Organize and facilitate laboratory work per provider orders.
  • Ensure that an admission nursing assessment and care plan(s) for each client are complete per program policy.
  • Maintain confidentiality of protected health information.
  • Provide ongoing training as needed to existing nursing personnel.
  • Ensure effective communication between nursing staff and collaborating disciplines.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the provider's order for admission is present upon the client's admission to the program.
  • Organize and document required monthly nursing meeting and other necessary meetings as warranted.
  • Manage the maintenance of all nursing-related spaces and equipment.
  • Ensure proper nursing documentation is entered for each client, including but not limited to daily shift notes, weekly updates, treatment plans, treatment plan updates, contact notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Review and document employee performance 90 days after hire, annually, and as needed per company policy.
  • Manage performance improvement/disciplinary action as warranted according to policy and document performance management as required.
  • Nurse Manager or designee to attend and present all necessary nursing-related information in weekly staffing for all clients.
  • Coordinate with providers to ensure that necessary communication and documentation is maintained, specifically relating to the ongoing medical, psychiatric, nursing, and medication management of client care.
  • Responsible for oversight of the facility’s infection control/prevention program.
  • Responsible for ensuring that there is an on-call nursing staff designated.
  • Receive facility-related calls and come in for uncovered shifts when all other options have been exhausted (per-diem staff, part-time staff, full-time staff, and the Agency are unavailable).
  • Attend Nursing Leadership calls/meetings monthly, and as needed.
  • Assist with insurance issues as needed or designated by the Vice President of Nursing Operations, or designee.
  • Coordinate and ensure that all admission requirements are completed per organization policy.
  • Ensure proper destruction/return of all medications is completed per policy and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain adequate inventory and supply of necessary nursing-related items in accordance with the monthly operational budget.
  • Assist with additional program needs as requested by the Vice President of Nursing Operations, Clinical Director, or designee.
  • Seek opportunities to increase self-knowledge to improve the quality of client care provided.
  • Maintain compliance with Joint Commission and State/License regulatory standards and company policy.
  • In an emergency or declared state of emergency, you may be required to stay on-site as a part of the emergency team until the emergency has ended.
  • Demonstrates ability to identify and refer legal and/or ethical issues in client care to the Clinical Director or Director of Compliance.

  • BSN from an accredited school of nursing, and current RN licensure

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience

  1. Initiates the admission process by obtaining provider orders upon patient arrival at a residential facility and completing the initial nursing assessment within 24 hours, including assistance with medical intake (patient history and physical).

  3. Monitors and documents patient progress or regression in accordance with established policies and procedures.

  3. Responsible for maintaining patients’ records updated in electronic system.
  4. Supports a therapeutic milieu by monitoring patient behaviors, fostering a recovery-focused environment, and collaborating with the treatment team to reinforce structure, safety, and consistency.
  5. Communicates relevant information obtained from patients or families to the interdisciplinary team to support individualized care planning and treatment continuity.
  6. Coordinates with the Primary Therapist on any insurance review information needed.
  7. Works collaboratively with medical and psychiatric teams to provide integrated nursing care in support of eating disorder treatment goals.
  8. Participates in discharge planning with the medical and psychiatric teams to ensure continuity of care and safe transition from eating disorder treatment.
  9. Attend monthly nurse-led meetings and other team meetings as they arise to support effective communication and collaboration.
  10. Provides health education to patients through individual or group sessions when appropriate and documents sessions clearly, accurately, and concisely using the designated form.
  11. Assist patients in the coordination of their outpatient appointments as needed.
  12. Supports the informed consent process by helping patients understand procedures and treatments under the direction of the provider.

  14. Delivers clinical nursing care in a safe, competent, and professional manner in accordance with established standards and protocols.

  • Provide comprehensive medical evaluations, treatment, and ongoing management for patients receiving eating disorder treatment at Walden Behavioral Care.Β 
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, therapists, dietitians, and nursing staff to ensure holistic, integrated patient care.Β 
  • Monitor and manage medical complications related to eating disorders, including but not limited to electrolyte imbalances, malnutrition, and refeeding syndrome.Β 
  • Conduct routine medical assessments and follow-ups, including laboratory review and medication management.Β 
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to individualized treatment planning.Β 
  • Educate patients and families on medical aspects of eating disorders, treatment options, and recovery strategies.Β 
  • Support transitions of care, including discharge planning and coordination with outpatient providers.Β 
  • Maintain thorough and timely documentation in compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.Β 
Qualifications::
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.Β 
  • Board certification (or eligibility) in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine or Medicine and Pediatrics (both).Β 
  • Active and unrestricted medical license in the state of Massachusetts (or ability to obtain).Β 
  • Experience in behavioral health, eating disorder treatment, or hospital-based medicine is preferred but not required.Β 
  • Strong clinical and diagnostic skills, with the ability to manage medically complex patients.Β 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a team-oriented approach to care.Β

  • Practice within the general policies, philosophy, and objectives of the Department of Nursing and the hospital.
  • Provide nursing care in a therapeutically effective manner demonstrating sound clinical and professional judgment and competency.
  • Participate in community meetings and group therapies when assigned.
  • Assess unit milieu and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for patients, family members and staff.
  • Complete patient rounds in a timely manner in accordance with unit requirements and accurately document patient observations the Patient Observation Record.
  • Provide ongoing patient/family education relative to each patient.
  • Accurately transcribe medication and treatment orders and maintain medication administration record (MAR).
  • Accurately and safely administer prescribed medications and treatments to patients using correct methods of administration.

Qualifications::

Education:
