Provide engineering services in support of systems and equipment associated with research efforts within an academic or research unit or laboratory. Michelin Louisville is seeking Engineering Co-Op students majoring in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Computer, and Electrical Engineering to join the team at our plant in Louisville, KY.

In our petrochemical facility we produce synthetic rubber from monomer feedstocks and catalysts, through a polymerization reaction.

The product, after other operations, is carefully weighed and pressed into uniform bales before shipping to the next Michelin factory for tire production.

Our facility supplies various rubber products that go into tires in the USA, Canada, and in Michelin factories around the world. Our site is one of the three Michelin petrochemical sites producing synthetic rubber for cars, vans, trucks, two-wheelers, aircraft, agricultural tractors, and mining equipment.

TSP instructors will be responsible for overseeing capstone projects in the Master of Engineering (MEng) program in the Department Mechanical Engineering. This includes: design and propose capstone projects and help match students into suitable projects. Meet with each capstone project team on a regular basis to review results, manage interpersonal aspects, and maintain efficient progress. Provide critical, constructive feedback on students' written reports and oral presentations. Coordinating and participating in the MS Plan II exam of each student at the end of the capstone project period. This pool encompasses engineering science and technology specializations relevant to both mechanical engineering and aerospace engineering.

Job Description:

The Manufacturing Methods Engineer will determine the most efficient and economical method of performing production build and assembly. Review assembly drawings for manufacturability, plan and develop production workflows/ detailed assembly build documentation and adapt or modify existing manufacturing build/assembly documentation to increase efficiency. Provide floor support and on-the-job training to manufacturing assembly operators. Transition new product designs into production. Program and support computer-based production assembly automated equipment. Participate and lead continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Functions:

• Develop detailed build process documentation from Engineering drawings and schematics.
• Provide direct support to operators during assembly of products.
• Collaborate to solve challenges, reduce defects, and increase efficiency.
• Program automated manufacturing equipment.
• Support new product start-up and readiness process.
• Participate and lead continuous improvement activities.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Qualifications:

• Experience working with and maintaining SMT equipment and technology.
• Experience programming automated manufacturing equipment.
• Proven ability to read and interpret manufacturing build/assembly drawings.
• Experience with writing detailed manufacturing assembly instructions.

As a Sr. Production and Engineering Technician at Reliable Robotics, you will be a part of the Production organization. This is a small but growing team of highly motivated people passionate about delivering quality products and services on time, with unquestionable value. You'll play a critical role in the build, operation, integration, test, diagnostics, inspection, and maintenance of highly reliable systems, including electro-mechanical assemblies, wiring harnesses, components, and subassemblies. You'll also help with the installation of those systems onto aircraft. Your work will support various product development phases such as prototype, research and development, aircraft certification, and recurring production. This is a fantastic opportunity to serve as the last line of defense for ensuring that our safety-critical systems are reliable and produced to the intended engineering requirements.

Responsibilities

• Build, operate, integrate, test, diagnose, inspect, and maintain highly reliable systems, including avionics and electromechanical assemblies, wire harnesses, and circuit card assemblies

• Read, interpret, and work from drawings, controlled documentation, and processes such as drawings, layouts, assembly procedures/work instructions, schematics, engineering drawings, and master parts lists

• Develop and improve manufacturing and installation instructions

• Assure product and process quality by testing finished-product and process capabilities

• Resolve product non-conformances and collaborate with the quality team to implement corrective actions

Basic Success Criteria

• 7+ years of professional experience building and testing electromechanical assemblies, fabrication, integration, or mechanical assembly experience

• 4+ years of hands-on experience reviewing technical designs and working from drawings, schematics, layouts, assembly/procedures, master parts lists, and other controlled documentation

• Ability to proficiently use a PC/Mac, Google Suite, manufacturing execution systems, JIRA, or equivalent tools

• Ability to lift 25-pound boxes to a height of 3-4 feet, with or without reasonable accommodation

• IPC and/or J-STD certification

• Experience working in an electro-mechanical manufacturing company, a precision manufacturing company, or a high-volume manufacturing company
