Plastic Surgery APP (Physician Assistant) Position:
King County, WA
Advanced Practice Provider (P.A,) opportunity with a busy plastic surgery practice in Federal Way. Our new PA/ARNP will provide services and contribute to the design and delivery of high quality, cost effective, values- based patient care for our patients under the supervision of a Plastic Surgeon based on the campus of St. Francis Hospital, part of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health.
Candidates should be interested in both clinic and surgical duties in the hospital operating department. The plastic surgeon you will be joining specializes in reconstructive and cosmetic surgery of the breast, body and face. He has extensive experience in breast and body surgery including breast augmentation, breast reduction, breast lift, tummy tuck, arm lift, thigh lift and liposuction surgeries. He is committed to treating patients after major weight loss and offers comprehensive body contouring procedures. He has a special interest in reconstruction after breast cancer surgery (mastectomy reconstruction, oncoplastic reconstruction after lumpectomy, breast revision surgery). He additionally performs gender affirming top surgery. Finally, he treats a wide range of conditions such as skin cancer, complex wound reconstruction and nerve conditions of the upper extremity (carpal tunnel syndrome).
Monday-Friday, 4 - 10 hour shifts per week (alternating Wednesday/Thursday off), schedule with flexibility into the evening if cases run longer than expected. On-call duties split amongst the surgeon and 2 APPs.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
* Perform physical examinations, record medical histories, and formulate accurate diagnoses under surgeon's supervision. Review patient records.
* Assists with surgeries and inpatient rounding.
* Consult with physician(s) when warranted to assess patient condition and treatment.
* Ensure that medical charts, patient billing and related administrative duties are completed in a timely manner.
* Ensure that same day care is available to patients with acute illness or minor injuries.
* Participate in the development and implementation of clinic policies and procedures.
* Maintain current knowledge of medical procedures and treatment, including participating in professional development activities and maintaining professional affiliations.
* Attends required meetings and participates in committees as assigned.
* Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
* Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
* Provides patient education. Instructs patients and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
* Perform similar and incidental duties as assigned and complete them in a timely manner.
* Use Universal Precautions including personal protective equipment for anticipated contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials.
Job Requirements
* Minimum of one year work experience as an advanced practice provider in any surgical specialty
* Graduate from a Physician Assistant program
* Licensed in the state of Washington as a P.A. by the time of employment
* Board certified by the time of employment
* DEA, NPI & prescriptive authority
