JOB SUMMARY
The Plant Controller is the lead financial executive for the manufacturing facility, serving as a strategic business partner to the Plant Manager. This role is responsible for the overall financial health of the plant, including P&L management, cost accounting, budgeting, and internal controls. The ideal candidate combines deep technical accounting expertise with an operational mindset to drive profitability and efficiency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Leadership & Reporting
- Own the plant's P&L, balance sheet, and cost center reporting.
- Manage month-end close activities, including financial reconciliations and variance capitalization.
- Ensure accuracy of the standard cost system, including labor rates, overhead absorption, and Bill of Materials (BOM) integrity.
- Monitor and analyze manufacturing variances (materials, labor, and overhead) to identify trends and opportunities.
Operational Partnership & Planning
- Partner with the Plant Manager to optimize production efficiency, monitor scrap rates, and improve labor productivity.
- Lead the development of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), budgets, and rolling financial forecasts.
- Evaluate capital expenditure (CAPEX) requests, providing ROI analysis, payback tracking, and post-implementation validation.
- Conduct product-level margin analysis to support operational decision-making (e.g., make vs. buy, capacity planning).
Inventory & Controls
- Oversee inventory valuation, WIP accuracy, reserves, and cycle count programs.
- Ensure strict adherence to SOX compliance, internal controls, and corporate financial policies.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, maintaining a strong and transparent control environment.
- Manage materials planning and logistics from a financial perspective to reduce overtime and inventory carrying costs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required; a Master's degree (MBA) or professional certification (CPA, CGMA, or CMA) is highly preferred.
- Experience: 7–10+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 3–5 years in a manufacturing leadership or Controller role.
- Technical Skills: Deep expertise in cost accounting, GAAP/IFRS, and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or Hyperion).
- Competencies: Strong analytical, forecasting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives

You’ll oversee incoming supplies and equipment, simplify and standardize maintenance data, and raise the quality and accuracy of performance, cost, and parts data through improved maintenance management.
Skills you’ll learn align with Record Keeping, Data Collection & Analysis, Stocking and Storage. In addition, you could earn 8 nationally recognized certifications!
