SUMMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION:


The Librarian for Access Services and Outreach will provide leadership for the Access Services division. This librarian will collaborate with colleagues to develop policies, procedures, and budget allocations for Access Services. They may also work closely with faculty and academic departments, accessing student needs and developing new classes to enable student success. As a member of the library leadership team, this librarian works collaboratively in assessing, developing, and managing key services of the Claire T. Carney Library. Often the first contact for a user or visitor, this librarian is an important ambassador for the library to the community.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • EDUCATION: Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent
  • EXPERIENCE: Two years of professional experience (post MLS) in public services in an academic (higher education) or public library setting.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Experience using the Ex Libris Alma integrated library system.
  • Experience supervising full-time staff and student employees.
  • Experience managing projects.
  • Experience using evidence-based approaches to support improvements to library services.

EXAMPLES OF PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Access Services



  • Provides leadership for the Access Services division in circulation, stacks management, reserves, and space management.
  • Staffs the Access Services desk as needed. (May include evening, weekend, or holiday hours.)
  • Performs access services related functions within the integrated library system and other library systems.
  • Coordinates staff coverage for library operating hours.
  • Oversees hiring and training of student employees.
  • Communicates effectively with campus police, facilities, and hired security.
  • Collaborates with colleagues across the library to develop workflows and procedures related to collection management, user accounts, and other access services functions.
  • Represents Access Services in library leadership meetings.
  • Collaborates with library leadership on the development, implementation, updating, and communication of policies and procedures.
  • Assists the Dean with developing and managing the divisional budget.

Outreach



  • Works with departments and programs across the university to enhance the student experience, coordinating general tours and orientations to the library and basic research skills.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Duties & Responsibilities

Primary Purpose


The Community Engagement and Belonging (CEB) Program Assistant provides administrative, programmatic, and on-site support to advance Otis College’s Community Engagement and Belonging initiatives. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Community Engagement and Belonging, this fixed-term, part-time role supports the planning and execution of campus programs, cultural observances, and signature experiences that foster connection, belonging, and student engagement.

2.1 Program & Event Support

Co-develop and support Community Engagement and Belonging programs tied to cultural month recognition and awareness initiatives, including but not limited to Black History Month, Women’s History Month, Autism Acceptance Month, Arab American Heritage Month, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Jewish American Heritage Month, Mental Health Awareness Month, and Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month.

Provide in-person and logistical support for signature programs such as:

  • MLK Jr. Day of Service
  • BIPOC Student Summit
  • International Women’s Day / International Women’s Dinner
  • Otis Creatives Institute (OCI) programming, including required in-person support from August 14-23, 2026, for student leader training, student leader retreat, and the OCI Pre-Orientation Program.
  • Creatives Institute Peer Mentor (CIPM) community programming: Black Creatives, Latinx Creatives, and Queer and Trans (QT+)
  • Culture Fest and end-of-year celebrations
  • Support planning and execution of lunches, vendor fairs, community check-ins, and student engagement activities.


2.2 Administrative & Operational Support

  • Provide administrative support to the Assistant Dean of Community Engagement and Belonging, including:
  • Coordinating meetings
  • Creating agendas and taking notes
  • Managing calendars and email correspondence
  • Completing payment requisitions for artists, speakers, and vendors
  • Assist with room reservations, catering requests, supply ordering, event setup and cleanup, preparing disbursements and honorariums, etc.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide individual and group therapy to ~80 students, either in response to crisis or ongoing, depending on the need 
  • Establish partnerships with families, teachers, coaches and outside agencies to provide necessary social and emotional support to students.
  • Build strong rapport and work collaboratively with teachers, coaches, support staff and administration to effectively respond to the needs of youth, including but not limited to the development of behavioral intervention plans, crisis response, case planning,

Job Description

The Apprentice Teacher position provides a unique opportunity for talented individuals with limited or no teaching experience to explore the field of education and to gain hands-on practice and the training necessary to become a successful full-time classroom teacher. Apprentice Teachers will have an opportunity to observe best practices in classroom instruction and education reform from experienced teachers and school leaders at a leading charter management organization. Apprentice Teachers observe and learn from Master Teachers, co-teach with teacher-leaders, provide in-house substitute teaching coverage for teachers, and support teachers with tutoring, grading, and individual or small group student instruction.
