Family Law Paralegal

Are you a detail-oriented professional with a passion for family law? A prestigious law firm located in Chicago is seeking a dedicated Family Law Paralegal to join the dynamic team. In this role, you will be a key player in managing all aspects of document organization, discovery, financial analysis, and trial preparation across various jurisdictions. This hybrid role offers a competitive salary of $65-85k commensurate with experience, and a comprehensive benefits plan including health insurance, generous PTO, and a 401(k) plan.
Key Responsibilities of the Family Law Paralegal:
- Prepare financial affidavits and balance sheets
- Work closely with clients to provide discovery, complete financial disclosures, and prepare exhibits and materials for trials, hearings, and depositions
- Issue and respond to discovery requests
- Analyze and summarize financial records for attorney review, including dissipation and tracing
- Draft subpoenas with riders and ensure compliance
- Review, index, analyze, and summarize financial and discovery records
- Prepare both paper and electronic exhibits and exhibit lists for various legal proceedings
- Conduct financial analysis, including dissipation and tracing
- Maintain discovery calendar
- Maintain effective communication with in-house attorneys, clients, and external resources
- Communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, experts, and others
Qualifications of the Family Law Paralegal:
- 2-3 years of litigation paralegal experience required
- Family law experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Kofax, Adobe Acrobat, and legal research tools (PACER, Westlaw)
- Database management and document management systems expertise and familiarity with billing systems (Omega, etc.)
- Familiarity with Family Law Software is a plus
- Paralegal certification preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered
