GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

Each Staff Attorney is a part of a team of lawyers, social workers and legal assistants who represent

city employees and their families in connection with civil legal matters covered by the MELS

programs.

EXAMPLE OF TYPICAL TASKS

Attorney meets regularly with the team’s Supervising Attorneys to review the progress of each case

assigned to that Staff Attorney and to review in depth the overall handling of each case at its

conclusion.

While addressing clients’ legal interests as outlined above, Staff Attorneys must also be aware that

each client represents more than an abstract legal problem to be analyzed and solved. Legal problems

are often closely linked to personal, family or work problems that must be addressed in order to provide

effective, lasting assistance to clients. MELS attorneys must, therefore, be sensitive to clients’ nonlegal matters and collaborate with staff social workers in service to the clients.

Position Summary

Trinity Health Michigan is seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Medical Staff Services to lead Medical Staff Services (MSS) operations across our 9 hospitals and 2 ambulatory surgery centers. This is a high‑impact, system‑level leadership role responsible for driving standardization, regulatory excellence, and operational performance across the region.


In this role, you will report to the Chief Clinical Officer and partner with Chief Medical Officers from each health ministry to advance Medical Staff governance, credentialing, peer review processes, and administrative standard work. You will lead regional initiatives, ensure consistent application of harmonized policies and bylaws, and guide MSS teams in delivering efficient, compliant, and high‑quality services.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for Medical Staff Services across the Michigan region.
  • Ensure high‑quality, compliant credentialing, recredentialing, and data management processes.
  • Maintain harmonized Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules & Regulations, and Credentialing Policies across all sites.
  • Lead regional peer review oversight, including OPPE, FPPE, and peer review workflows.
  • Support Medical Staff governance and serve as the administrative liaison to regional Credentialing Committees.
  • Develop and maintain a regional dashboard for MSS operational performance.
  • Lead process‑improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.

  • Monitor and implement regulatory, legal, and accreditation requirements (CMS, TJC, DNV, etc.).


Education & Certification

  • Advanced degree required (Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of credentialing and Medical Staff Services typically gained through a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • CPMSM or CPCS certification preferred.


Experience

  • 5-10 years of progressive management experience in Medical Staff Services.
  • Must possess comprehensive knowledge of medical staff credentialing, peer review and the delivery of medical staff services.
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams, managing complex workflows, and driving organizational improvement.

Job Summary

The Staff Nurse provides comprehensive nursing services to residents within a Long-Term Structured Residence (LTSR) program, supporting individuals with serious mental illness in a recovery-oriented residential setting. This role is responsible for medication administration and monitoring, health assessments, coordination of medical care, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team to support residents’ physical and mental health needs. The Staff Nurse utilizes trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and evidence-based nursing practices while ensuring compliance with all regulatory, safety, and documentation requirements.

Staff Nurse Responsibilities:

- The Staff Nurse works from a recovery framework within the team providing health and wellness care, medication education, group psycho education, therapeutic interventions (evidenced based practices preferred), cultural competence and trauma informed care to help individuals obtain their recovery goals.
- Provision of assistance to residents who are unable to self-administer medication. Supervision of self-administered medication when indicated. Injection of medication when prescribed. Participation in education of residents regarding their medications, including assisting residents who are unable to self-administer medication to become able to do so.
- Participation in multi-disciplinary treatment team meetings as assigned.
- Participation in Quality Improvement Program as assigned.
- Timely reporting of all crises and unusual incidents to Nurse Manager and LTSR Director (Immediately if indicated; otherwise within 24 hours). Immediate reporting of psychiatric and medical crises to Psychiatrist.
- Compliance with all internal and external requirements and regulations regarding record keeping and recording.
- Observance of Universal Precautions in administering medications, disposing of needles, and handling waste products, etc.
- Provision of direct service to residents, including assistance with personal hygiene, bathing/showering and all other tasks of daily living as needed.
- Leading activities with residents, including educational, social, and leisure programs for which residents’ input is elicited. Participating in community integration activities as needed.
- Regular and relevant documentation in clinical chart and utilizes other designated forms.
- Attendance at all meetings and training sessions as assigned.

Summary:

The Staff Nurse provides nursing care requiring specialized knowledge judgment and skill derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social and nursing sciences.

Responsibilities:

1. Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and directs nursing care with a focus on family centered care for individuals or groups of patients within the assigned scope of practice.
2. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age and developmental status is required.
