Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Level 2 Network Firewall Engineer to design, implement, and maintain secure firewall solutions that support business operations. This role involves hands-on technical work, proactive security monitoring, and collaboration with cross-functional IT teams. You will also play a key role in mentoring junior engineers and ensuring best practices in network security.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement firewall solutions aligned with business and security requirements
  • Perform firewall upgrades, patches, and migrations
  • Monitor firewall activity and proactively implement security measures
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network security and firewall-related issues
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure optimal network performance and security
  • Document firewall configurations, policies, and changes
  • Train and mentor junior firewall engineers
  • Participate in incident response and root cause analysis


Required Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in network security and firewall management (Palo Alto preferred)
  • Strong understanding of networking and security concepts:
  • TCP/IP, LAN/WAN
  • Routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF)
  • VPN, VLAN
  • Tools: ping, tracert, ipconfig/ifconfig
  • Experience with firewalls, routers, and switches configuration
  • Familiarity with tools such as Packet Tracer and Wireshark
  • Working knowledge of remote access technologies (RDP, VNC)
  • Basic scripting knowledge using Python or Ansible
  • Experience with ticketing systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities


Education

  • Required: Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a related field


Certifications

Required:

  • Palo Alto Networks Certified Cybersecurity Associate (PCCSA) or Practitioner (PCCSP)
  • CompTIA Security+


Preferred:

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
