Network Firewall Engineer

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Level 2 Network Firewall Engineer to design, implement, and maintain secure firewall solutions that support business operations. This role involves hands-on technical work, proactive security monitoring, and collaboration with cross-functional IT teams. You will also play a key role in mentoring junior engineers and ensuring best practices in network security.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement firewall solutions aligned with business and security requirements
- Perform firewall upgrades, patches, and migrations
- Monitor firewall activity and proactively implement security measures
- Troubleshoot and resolve network security and firewall-related issues
- Collaborate with IT teams to ensure optimal network performance and security
- Document firewall configurations, policies, and changes
- Train and mentor junior firewall engineers
- Participate in incident response and root cause analysis
Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of experience in network security and firewall management (Palo Alto preferred)
- Strong understanding of networking and security concepts:
- TCP/IP, LAN/WAN
- Routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF)
- VPN, VLAN
- Tools: ping, tracert, ipconfig/ifconfig
- Experience with firewalls, routers, and switches configuration
- Familiarity with tools such as Packet Tracer and Wireshark
- Working knowledge of remote access technologies (RDP, VNC)
- Basic scripting knowledge using Python or Ansible
- Experience with ticketing systems
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Education
- Required: Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Certifications
Required:
- Palo Alto Networks Certified Cybersecurity Associate (PCCSA) or Practitioner (PCCSP)
- CompTIA Security+
Preferred:
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
