Summary
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Ultrasonographer performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses ultrasound technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the age continuum.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

2. *Performs ultrasound procedures to include abdominal, obstetrical, gynecological, neuro, small parts, interventional and Doppler.
3. *Uses sterile technique as required for invasive procedures.

5. *Competently operates all ultrasound equipment and support systems to include HIS, RIS, Scheduling System, PACS, and offsite Radiologist Services.

7. *Properly cares for and images patients of all ages; maintains patient confidentiality.
8. *Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; communicates with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families, and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care.
9. *Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination, or questions with courtesy and accuracy.
10. *Participates in the departments quality improvement plan as required.
11. *Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies supervisor of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as needed.
12. *Keeps work area properly supplied.
13. *Participates in the training of the diagnostic medical sonography students and provides general support of their clinical education; completes required documentation as indicated and adheres to the expectations of the Bryan College of Health Sciences General Sonography program.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) certification in the practice specialty of abdomen and OBGYN required within three (3) months of hire date. Prior certification in neonatal neurosonography or certification in pediatric sonography within twenty-four (24) months of date of hire required.
OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from a School of Practical Nursing with current licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act required. Must provide evidence of certification and/or instruction for practice area as required by State or Federal standards/regulations.
OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.
Summary
The BH Clinic LPN assists physicians with examinations and procedures to serve the medical needs of patients with various cardiac related health conditions in a professional, confidential, and caring manner. Coordinates the flow of patients, phone calls, lab work, and nurse visits to facilitate quality patient care and customer service goals. Provides professional nursing care as prescribed by the physician and in compliance with the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act, any applicable licensure/certification requirement and organizational policies and procedures.

- *Performs nursing and other patient care activities to ensure the physical and psychological well-being of the patient.
- *Screens patients for appropriate information to insure EHR is up to date.
3. *Prepares patient for examination treatment by taking patient histories and vital signs, accurately documenting in the EHR available to the consulting physicians.
4. *Registers and maintains timely, complete information in the patients EHR and charts to ensure accurate patient care. Posts tests and examination results immediately.
6. *Ensures that exam rooms are clean and keeps them well stocked with necessary equipment and supplies.
7. *Prepares equipment and aids physician during examination of patients
8. *Performs electrocardiograms
9. *Dispenses medication as directed. Observes and records patients condition and reaction to drugs and treatments, and reports same to provider.
10. *Educates patients and their families about diagnostic procedures, medications, post-treatment instructions, nutrition and maintenance of general health and wellness.
11. *Understands diagnosis allowed for ordering tests/procedures to ensure reimbursement.
12. Assist Bryan Heart with pre-authorizations, release of information requests, FMLA certification, etc.
13. Responds to/refers incoming patient treatment-related phone calls.
14. Maintains patient confidentiality.
15. Manages work hours, supplies, and other clinical costs in line with fiscal responsibility and budget.
16. Attends meetings and participates on committees as assigned.
17. Performs other tasks assigned by physicians and management.
18. May assist provider in both Lincoln and Outreach Clinic sites.
Graduation from an accredited professional nursing program required. Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Nebraska required. Minimum of one- year nursing experience required, clinic nursing preferred. Current Basic Life support (BLS) certification required.
