Responsibilities

Information Professional Officers (IPOs) oversee the seamless operation of the global Naval network environment. Their responsibilities include:

  • Leading the Naval network warfare missions in developing tactics and procedures to realize tactical, strategic and business advantages afloat and ashore
  • Driving interoperability with joint, allied and coalition partners
  • Building professional excellence through education, training and certification and milestone qualifications
  • Optimizing organizational effectiveness through cutting-edge technologies, knowledge management techniques and a culture of innovation
  • Helping to develop and deploy information systems, command and control and space systems
  • Serving as a key part of the Information Dominance Corps in its mission to gain a deep understanding of the inner workings of adversaries
  • Overseeing the work of Information Systems Technicians - Enlisted Sailors (no degree required) who serve as specialists in information technology


Work Environment

Information Professionals serve in challenging roles of increasing scope and responsibility both afloat and ashore. This could include:

  • Serving as part of Battle Group staffs on ships at sea

  • Serving in command of key communication and surveillance facilities around the globe


Training & Advancement

Those pursuing an Information Professional Officer position are required to attend Officer Candidate School (OCS) in Newport, RI.

Upon completion, candidates typically attend a five-week IP Basic Course of instruction in Pensacola, FL, before or during their initial assignment. IPOs must complete specific qualifications as part of their training during Fleet tours and are expected to pursue advanced education opportunities.

Promotion opportunities are regularly available but competitive and based on performance.

Postgraduate education is important to the success of the Information Professional. Most IPs will complete a master's degree in C4I, space, information systems, computer science or modeling and simulation.

Qualifications & Requirements

A degree from a four-year college or university is a minimum educational requirement to become a Commissioned Officer. Candidates seeking an Information Professional Officer position must have a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in a technical field, preferably in one of following fields: Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Operations, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, General Engineering.

All candidates must also be: U.S. citizens, willing to serve worldwide, eligible for a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance and qualified for sea duty.

General qualifications may vary depending upon whether you're currently serving, whether you've served before or whether you've never served before.

Part-Time Opportunities

There are part-time opportunities available as an Information Professional Officer.

Serving part-time as a Navy Reserve Sailor, your duties will be carried out during your scheduled drilling and training periods. During monthly drilling, Information Professional Officers in the Navy Reserve typically work at a location close to their homes.

For annual training, Information Professional Officers may serve anywhere in the world, whether on a ship at sea or at bases and installations on shore.

Most of what you do in the Navy Reserve is considered training. The basic Navy Reserve commitment involves training a minimum of one weekend a month (referred to as drilling) and two weeks a year (referred to as Annual Training) - or the equivalent of that.

Duties and Responsibilities

Typical assignments include: 

  • Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and custom laws and inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations
  • Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers of noncitizens at or near the borders by maintaining surveillance from covert positions to include using infrared scopes during night operations

Experience: One (1) year of general work experience that demonstrates the ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and maintain composure in stressful situations; to learn regulations, methods, and techniques through classroom training and/or on-the-job instruction; and the ability to gather concise information through questioning, observation, and examination of documents and records; OR 

Education Substitution: A bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; OR 

Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of general work experience AND successfully completed college education. This will be calculated using your resume and official or unofficial transcripts submitted with your application.

Education Substitution for the GL-7 grade level: A bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement, which is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average (i.e., GPA of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0), or (3) honor society membership. Or will receive a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. Or one full year of graduate-level education in a field of study related to law enforcement (e.g., criminal justice, homeland security, justice studies, law enforcement, courts and judicial systems, forensic technology, forensic psychology, or corrections and rehabilitation) from an accredited college or university; OR

  • Support historical supplier data cleansing, remediation, and preparation for system migration.
  • Coordinate with Master Data teams to maintain compliance with data standards, naming conventions, and governance rules.

Onboarding Process & Technology Support

  • Support onboarding workflows within digital procurement platforms (e.g., Graphite), including testing and issue documentation.
  • Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and data quality.
  • Assist with documenting future-state processes, SOPs, and training materials.

Supplier Communications & Readiness

  • Develop supplier-facing communications, readiness guides, and FAQs to support clear and effective onboarding.

  • Maintain onboarding dashboards, metrics, and progress reports.

Change Management

  • Support change management activities related to new systems and processes.

Market Intelligence & Reporting

  • Provide insights and reporting related to onboarding progress, supplier segmentation, and data quality trends.
  • Collaborate with market intelligence partners to ensure data supports downstream analytics and visibility needs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Procurement, Supplier Quality, Master Data, IT/Technology teams, and business stakeholders to ensure smooth onboarding execution.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Analytics, or a related discipline.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in supplier onboarding, supplier master data, procurement operations, supply chain, or process/technology implementation.
  • Experience working with procurement platforms (e.g., Ariba, Graphite, Coupa, or similar).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong project coordination abilities and comfort working in fast-paced implementation environments.

This position is for a junior to mid-level electrical engineer to provide assistance to the CRM Instruments HW Released Product Engineering group (a.k.a. continuation engineering, sustaining engineering, product support). This group participates in several cross functional teams for market released external medical instrumentation products. Cross functional project teams include members from Product Development, Manufacturing, Marketing, Sourcing, Contract Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Reliability, and Regulatory functions. The group’s primary objective is to provide the design expertise necessary to support continuity of quality and compliant products. This electrical engineer will be taking work direction from the engineers on staff to fulfill various technical and documentation responsibilities.


**Position Responsibilities:

* Assess supplier driven changes, component changes, and component obsolescence for potential impact against product functional requirements and document the testing required or rationale (analysis) for no testing.

* Create test plans and reports, and coordinate product testing.

* Evaluate returned product to determine the root cause of field returns and establish design improvements.

* Create and implement engineering changes in the Product Data Management system. This includes leading the cross functional change review and approval process.

* Communicate technical details and achieve the necessary understanding and trust from non-technical audiences.

* Provide technical expertise to support electrical and mechanical projects that expand the capabilities of existing product and system solutions.

* Review and analyze circuit schematics and technical component specifications.

**Required Qualifications:

* 0 to 5 years industry experience

* Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or another Engineering with a very strong focus in electronics

* Must have the capability of functioning independently as an Electrical Engineer with minimal supervision

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on trailers and their refrigeration systems.

  • Maintain shop tools.

Qualifications you'll bring as a Mechanic II:
  • Have High School Diploma or GED. Trade school graduate in heavy duty diesel repairs, and/or refrigeration
    classes is preferred. Beginning level is preferred.
  • Have 1-2 years job experience on diesel repairs, tractor- trailer, refrigeration maintenance and repairs.
  • One year documented experience in fleet maintenance or one-year employment with company at upper scale of Class C Technician.
  • Possess basic hand tools (up to ½" drive) and tool storage.
  • Possess or acquire within 1 year from date of hire a current ASE certification in Medium/Heavy Truck Preventative Maintenance Inspection (PMI) (Test T8).
  • Possess a Valid Class C Driver's License. A Class A license is preferred but not required.
  • Stand, walk, bend, stoop, push, pull, grasp and reach above the head for extended periods of time.
  • Preferred certifications:
    • Certification in Transportation Refrigeration.
    • Brake Systems and components.
    • Tractor A/C Refrigeration and Freon Recovery (609 license required).
    • Trailer Refrigeration 608 license required if working on trailer units.
