Systems Engineering & Test Capabilities (SE&TC) integrates, verifies, and validates our products. Maritime Strike Tomahawk is a highly dynamic development program in which you will be contributing directly to the requirements development and decomposition of complex subsystems as well as developing the verification approach. As a Systems Engineer you will collaborate with other Engineering disciplines to help define requirements, interfaces, subsystem behavior, and subsystems integration into the overall system. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining SE Artifacts. This role will see a wide spectrum of the development lifecycle from requirement development, qualification/verification, and fleet deployment support. Additionally, this role will include Control Account Manager (CAM) duties. As the CAM, you will be directly accountable for the detailed planning, scheduling, and budgeting of the authorized scope of work for each assigned Control Account. This position is on site; no remote work is available.

What You Will Do

• Earned Value Management (EVM): Monitoring and reporting on earned value, cost performance, and schedule adherence to ensure project objectives are met. Plan and track tasks and milestones within an Integrated Master Schedule

• Develop, maintain, and improve system and subsystem requirements, interfaces, behaviors and architecture

• Perform requirements flow down / allocation and traceability along with development of the Requirements Verification Matrix

• Utilize a variety of enabling technologies such as Cameo Model Based Systems Engineering and DOORS for Requirement Management

• Facilitate technical discussions with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across multiple engineering disciplines to identify and formulate plans of action, trades or analysis

Qualifications You Must Have 

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline, and a minimum of eight (8) years of prior relevant experience.

• Experience writing, decomposing and tracing requirements, and/or performing trade studies to optimize system performance

• Experience with military systems; tactics, techniques, and procedures along with DoD customer infrastructure experience

• Experience with Systems Engineering Product Development Cycle

• Experience with system safety, reliability, and configuration management

This Principal Mechanical Engineering position performs in alignment to expectations in the design, development and production support areas associated with mechanical designs, validation principals, qualification processes, procurement, and production processes across a design life cycle.  Work may include requirements understanding, concept development, DFMAs, PFMEAs, margin analysis, technical data package (TDP) development, application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principals, engineering test principals, preparation of technical analysis reports, and design review presentation.

This is an onsite role and located in Tucson, AZ.  

What You Will Do:

• Contribute to one or more of our contract-funded and independent research efforts, each of which is at a different phase of development (proposal, design, and integration/test). Engineers are generally assigned to one effort at a time but may work multiple efforts over the course of several years.

• Communicate with cross-disciplined, engineering team members and suppliers to analyze, model, and document the design technical data package (TDP) and its capabilities and compliance to requirements.

• Work under limited supervision and act as the responsible engineer often in a project management role over entire subsystems within an effort. This often requires the ability to direct, delegate and review the work of others

• Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements.

In the GNC department, we design, integrate, and optimize effector guidance, tracking, navigation, and estimation algorithms to meet mission objectives. The Effectors PG&C Center is currently hiring for a Sr. Systems Engineer - Guidance, Navigation, and Control Engineer position in Tucson, AZ to support execution of the portfolio of current and upcoming missile programs. As a Sr. Systems Engineer - Guidance, Navigation, and Control Engineer, you will play a critical role in helping with the evaluation, design, implementation, and integration of embedded software algorithms. You will collaborate with a team of engineers in an integrated product team that will be responsible for tactical embedded software, firmware, and integrated flight software 6 Degrees-of-Freedom simulations to achieve overall system performance requirements. This position is an onsite role located in Tucson, AZ. 

What You Will Do

• Development, integration, and testing of embedded tactical missile flight code

• Definition and execution of system level performance studies and analyses to inform the development and integration of new capabilities, refinement of existing capability, or to address obsolescence

• Work within an agile framework to lead development of backlogs, plans, and metrics

• Provide experience and guidance to help the program train new engineers and execute efficiently and effectively

• Support missile performance analysis including model development, system optimization, and Monte Carlo assessments with expected system disturbances.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related STEM degree and a minimum of 5 years prior relevant experience

• GNC, Signal Processing, and/or Modeling / Simulation experience

• Engineering experience in missile system applications to include at least one of the following:

  • Digital and/or modern control systems

  • Dynamics

  • Kalman filter design

  • Monte Carlo analysis

  • Development and/or simulation of physical systems

  • Signal processing

  • Verification and validation

  • System-level performance assessments

  • GPS/INS navigation systems, sensors, and algorithms

  • Assured Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (APNT) systems, sensors, and algorithms for navigation in GPS-degraded environments

• Experience with MATLAB, Python, C, C++, and/or Object-Oriented design

• Experience with GNC and/or Signal Processing algorithms within a simulation or physical environment

• Experience managing or leading others in a technical and/or functional capacity within an engineering environment

• Ability to obtain an Interim Secret U.S. government issued Security Clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain special program access after start. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Active and current Secret or above level Security Clearance
