Job Details Job Details: We are seeking a dynamic and proactive individual for the role of Permanent Head Start/Early Head Start Director in the non-profit industry.
This position offers an opportunity to lead and manage a comprehensive early education program that promotes the school readiness of low-income children by enhancing their cognitive, social, and emotional development.
The Director will be responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state guidelines and regulations, program planning, and engaging with government agencies and community-based planning.
Responsibilities: Oversee the implementation and operation of the Head Start/Early Head Start program in accordance with federal regulations and guidelines.
Develop and implement strategic plans that meet the goals and objectives of the program.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines.
Manage the program budget and financial activities, including forecasting, reporting, and auditing.
Establish and maintain relationships with government agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
Lead and supervise a team of professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Coordinate with staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality services to children and families.
Evaluate program effectiveness and implement changes as needed to ensure continuous improvement.
Advocate for the program and its participants in the community and with policymakers.
Ensure the program maintains a strong presence in the community through effective communication and outreach efforts.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or University with a major in Business Administration, Education, Public Administration, Psychology, or related field and four years.
A Master's degree is preferred.
Minimum of five years of experience in a leadership role in an early childhood education setting.
In-depth knowledge of Head Start and Early Head Start federal regulations and guidelines.
Experience in community-based planning and working with government agencies.
Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Proven ability to lead and manage a diverse team of professionals.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
Strong strategic planning and problem-solving skills.
Commitment to the mission of Head Start and Early Head Start programs and to serving low-income children and families.
Ability to pass a background check and obtain clearance for working with children.
