Job Description

Job Title: Packaging Engineer

Location: Summit, NJ - Onsite

Duration: 8 Months Contract (Possible Extension)


Education:

  • BS / MS in Packaging technology.
  • Mechanical / Polymer, Plastics or Chemical Engineering,
  • Work experience: 5+ years of new package development/Technology transfer in Client, food, or pharmaceutical companies.
  • Must be able to work independently

Description:

  • General Summary: Provides technical expertise in the areas of design, development, testing and production scale-up of new packaging component and systems.
  • Has package development knowledge or background to execute packaging work processes for packaging projects.
  • Compiles and analyses data, identifies causes, draws conclusions and reports
  • Manages processes and ensures that activities and project goals are achieved through engagement with the X-functional team, manufacturing sites and externally with packaging vendors.
  • Responsible for maintaining compliance, consistency of practices and work quality
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously involving package development, materials selection, and manufacturing process/site changes.
  • Support manufacturing investigations, by collaborating with cross-functional teams from commercial & supply chain to execute optimization of processes, packaging materials, and constructions to enable the business innovation, GP and ESG targets.

  • Partner with the cross-functional team to execute package development activities with minimal supervision.
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrates specialized knowledge, experience and skill in scientific analysis
  • Strong project management skills, able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Leverage digital tools such as CAD, and/or modelling & simulation in projects.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and agility to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Executes projects with technical rigor and translates output into specifications.
  • Develop and drive alignment for packaging development plans with the franchise squads


KPIs

  • Demonstrates understanding of packaging development work process and technical strengths to independently deliver package development activities and risk assessments.
  • Communicates (both written and verbal), to convey complex information clearly and logically.
  • Problem-solving skills, with the ability to execute tasks independently, seeking guidance as required.
  • Able to adapt and re-prioritize to changing priorities.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to build effective working relationships at all levels in the organization
