Overview

Easton Block & Supply of the H&K Group, Inc., is seeking a motivated individual to help operate their block plant! The Concrete Block Machine Operator operates a batching system that feeds aggregates, cement, and water mixed together creating the ideal mix design to form a strong dependable block.  Once the material is mixed, it is the operators job to set machine parameters that will feed and form the concrete block with high levels of vibration.  After a minimum of 16 hours the block is cured enough that it can be handled and formed to be shipped at a later date.  The operator is responsible for operator the dry side of the machine that creates a safe practical pattern to be shipped.  All of this while monitoring our quality standards set by the industry and Easton Block specifications. The ideal candidate is dependable, adaptable, and strives to continuously build knowledge and skills.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

• Perform all work adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policies

• Understands the proper mixing sequence of Grey Block and applies that to the batching system to create the ideal mix design. 

• Operates the wetside of the Block Machine with the set parameters and monitors moisture, dimensions, color and imperfections of the block

• Operates the dryside of the Block Machine with set cube patterns for ideal shipping

• Dislodges block jams that cause machine downtime by hand or equipment designed to help the operator in tight spaces. 

• Removes materials or products from discharge end of conveyor that are deemed scrap and disposes of them in the proper waste container

• Inspects materials or products for damage or for conformity to specifications

• Uses hoist to assist in mold changes of different products

• Stencils, tags, stamps, or writes identifying information on packaged products

• Records production.

• Keeps work area clean and orderly

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Willing to learn how to operate block manufacturing, curing, cubing machinery

• Mechanically inclined and willing to learn basic preventative maintenance/repair on hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems

• Able to use hand and air tools

• Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed

• Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) from an accredited educational institution

• Experience in heavy manufacturing, civil construction, road construction, or quarries

• MSHA, OSHA or other relevant safety certifications

We seek an experienced and proactive Environmental Specialist to lead environmental compliance, hazardous waste management, and sustainability efforts across our site. This role is critical in ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal environmental regulations andtimely regulatory reporting. The Environmental Specialist will manage programs related to wastewater treatment, air and water permitting, hazardous waste, and ozone-depleting substances (ODS).

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in environmental compliance in an industrial, manufacturing, or municipal setting.
• Certifications:
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations, including RCRA, CERCLA, CAA, CWA, and TSCA.
  • Certification in environmental compliance (e.g., CHMM, REM) is a plus.
  • Experience with ODS compliance and leak detection programs is desirable.

• Prepare and submit air and water permit applications, renewals, and modifications.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and mitigate environmental risks.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with environmental policies and procedures.
• Manage the ODS compliance program, including leak detection, inventory tracking, and regulatory reporting.
• Provide training and guidance to employees on environmental compliance and best practices.
• Oversee waste management and disposal processes in accordance with RCRA regulations.
• Lead incident investigations and develop corrective action plans.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies and represent the company during inspections and audits.
• Stay current with changes in environmental regulations and industry standards.

Environmental Working Conditions & Physical Effort:

• This role involves extensive walking and fieldwork. You will actively inspect sites and identify areas for improvement.
• Standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects typically weighing less than 10 lbs.
• An office space will be provided with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
• This role involves work with hazardous waste.

Job Description:

• Training Pay: Guaranteed $1,500/wk. After training: Average $100,000 Annually
• Varying schedule.

• Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner.

• Performs all required safety checks (i.e., pre/post trip) including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations; inspects tractor/truck and trailer to insure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed.
• Reports all safety issues and/or repairs required.

• Immediately reports all safety hazards. Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight.
• Performs count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded.

• Moves tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed.
• Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule.
• Unloads products from the trailer, transports items into designated customer storage areas.
• Performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contact supervisor about removing orders according to company policy.
• Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures.
• Collects money (cash or checks) where required. Loads customer returns on to trailer and secures trailer doors.
• Ensures that tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or always secured.
• Unloads damaged goods and customer returns and bring to the driver check-in and complete necessary paperwork. Unloads all equipment, materials and remove trash from trailers as required.
• Completes daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
• Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean as required.
• At the end of the shift secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
