The Opportunity:

17A is supporting a large Bay Area county agency on a technology and digital services transformation effort. This is a fully embedded, on-site role — not parachuting in. You'll work inside the agency's innovation team, sitting alongside Deputy-level leadership to help the county deliver on its mission to make government more human, more responsive, and more digital. This position is a contract role with the potential to convert to full-time after a few months.

What You'll Do

Our client is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on building the

leading, fully integrated platform for precision genetic medicines. Their approach centers

Role:

A high-caliber and detail-oriented Clinical Research Associate (CRA) to

support the execution of the NEW clinical trial, a core clinical program advancing

the company's autologous gene therapy. This is a critical role within our growing

Clinical Operations organization.

As a CRA, you will be responsible for making sure clinical trial sites operate in full

compliance with protocol requirements, regulatory standards, and company's

quality expectations, while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and data

integrity.

This role is designed for a proactive operator who excels in the operational complexities

associated with advanced therapeutic modalities. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-

paced startup environment where precision, strong site partnerships, and early

identification of operational risks are essential to successful trial execution.

By overseeing day-to-day site monitoring activities, maintaining inspection-ready

documentation, monitor and verify site compliance with chain-of-identity (COI) and

Key Responsibilities:

Site Monitoring & Oversight:

company SOPs.

o Perform source data review/verification and ensure documentation supports

Data Quality & Systems:

o Review EDC entries for completeness and accuracy.

o Resolve queries with sites and data management.

o Ensure timely and accurate safety reporting including SAEs.

Documentation & Inspection Readiness:

o Ensure investigator site files and trial master file documentation are complete

and inspection ready.

o Maintain accurate monitoring reports and follow‑up documentation.

o Support audit and regulatory inspection readiness activities.

Site Relationship Management & Training:

o Serve as the primary monitoring contact for assigned clinical sites.

o Provide training on protocol procedures, amendments, and operational

Qualifications:

Education:

o Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, nursing, pharmacy, or related field

required. Advanced degree preferred.

Experience:

o 3+ years of clinical monitoring experience in biotech, pharma, or CRO

environments.

o Experience with cell therapy, gene therapy, oncology, or rare disease trials

preferred.

o Experience coordinating complex clinical logistics or centralized

manufacturing models is a plus.

This team is on the front lines of our mission and innovation, managing the a16z deal process, from initial inbound deals to partnership meetings. In this role, you will be responsible for the program management of our deal process and working cross-functionally with one or more of our funds and the investing teams associated with them.

We are looking for a strong program manager who can work autonomously to keep our deal process on track through strong organizational skills, being detail oriented, and working at the highest level of integrity and confidentiality. You will be working closely with all members of the investing team. It'll be critical for you to establish yourself as an expert on the deal process so you can provide the guidance, influence, and support required to get deals done!

This is an in-person role that requires that the individual be based in the Menlo Park, CA or San Francisco, CA office and be able to attend meetings in either office. There will be quarterly travel to our other offices.

• Build and cultivate long-term relationships with the Investing, Legal, and operating teams
• Understand and translate the investing team's needs into effective processes and systems to continue to grow best in class operational solutions, designed to keep pace with the investing team's ambitions
• Use your 0-1 building skills by operationalizing special projects that align with investing teams goals
• Be the expert in the a16z deal process and systems to Investing Partners and continue to scale the existing processes
• Schedule, prepare materials for, and manage partnership meetings.
• Track, manage, and report on funds

• You have experience working at a technology company, preferably in strategy and operations or program management
• You have experience translating business needs into tangible processes
• You have a proven ability to operate autonomously, manage multiple priorities across disparate workstreams, thrive in ambiguity, demonstrate flexibility and execute consistently and efficiently in a dynamic environment
• You are extremely responsive and thrive on getting things done

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $169,000 - $197,000, actual starting pay may vary based on a range of factors which can include experience, skills, and scope.

This role is eligible to participate in the a16z carry program and various discretionary bonus programs as well as benefit and perquisite plans including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401K plan, vacation, and sick leave.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead customer strategy, serving as the primary point of contact and building strong cross‑functional relationships while overseeing commercial and technical initiatives.
• Identify new technology opportunities, expand engagement across business units, and pursue growth with additional OEMs by aligning solutions to customer roadmaps.
• Coordinate with global engineering, operations, and program teams to drive successful development from concept through mass production.
• Lead pricing negotiations, contract and agreement reviews, and annual planning to drive revenue growth while ensuring profitability and long‑term alignment.
• Monitor market trends, emerging technologies, and competitive activity to guide strategy.
• Maintain accurate forecasting, pipeline visibility, and account documentation using CRM and internal tools.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or a related field
• 7-10+ years of sales experience in the consumer electronics or electronic component industry.
• Direct experience managing relationships with consumer electronic OEMs is required.
• Experience managing global customers,
• Proven ability to manage multi-stakeholder accounts within the consumer electronics industry.
