The Advanced IR Special Procedures Technologist performs advanced imaging procedures, including fluoroscopy and interventional radiology, assisting in diagnosing and treating patients. Overview:
Performs direct patient care in all aspects of respiratory care according to physicians' orders or protocol. Determines effectiveness of therapy. Provides ventilator support during cardiopulmonary resuscitation and maintains life support equipment in the intensive care units and other designated areas. NTICU is a highly specialized team that provides care to those with complex traumatic injuries, complex medical diagnosis, along with neurologic and neuro-surgical emergencies that require critical care. While we are primarily a Trauma and Neuro / Neuro-Surgical unit, we do care for patients with other types of diagnosis requiring critical care. This allows us to support our community, and the other ICUs at Mercy, while challenging our own team to continue to learn and grow in our nursing practice.
- Education: High school diploma, G.E.D, CNA/CPTC. or enrolled in a healthcare career program through their high school curriculum, and/or a current co-worker of Mercy.
- Experience: None required.
- In the state of practice: If no previous experience, Mercy will provide a required 175-hour training program that meets the state of practice Department of Health and Senior Services requirements. The program will be completed as part of the new hire orientation process and must be completed within 90 days of hire to remain in the PCA position per state guidelines.

4D Cardiac Surg Intermediate:
4D is an intermediate ICU otherwise called a Progressive Care Unit. The unit includes a 28 bed fully monitored unit. We provide high acuity care to critically ill post-operative cardiothoracic, vascular patients, and medical overflow. Common therapies seen on 4D are chest tubes management, lytic therapy, antidysrhythmic, low dose vasopressors, Bipap and high flow oxygen systems, insulin drips, and precedex. 4D works closely with Neuro Trauma PCU and ICUs for opportunities to cross train between departments. We are part of the Critical Care Cluster, which includes all ICUs and PCUs.

3E is the Cardiovascular and Surgical ICU. We care for all cardiothoracic, vascular, general, and head/neck surgery patients requiring ICU admission. Some common patients we care for are:
- CABG and Valve Repair/Replacement
- Vascular Stent and Bypasses
- Cardiogenic Shock
- STEMI/NSTEMI
- Radical Neck Dissection
- General Surgery
