Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a LeadMission SystemFlying Test Bed (FTB) Engineer in Berkeley, MO, supporting an Air Dominance Fixed Wing Proprietary Program. You will be joining a fast-paced program where you will be responsible for integrating and testing advanced tactical sensors onboard three flying test beds. Your work will include developing and planning tests, coordinating FTB modifications, and executing flight tests.

In this role, you will be joining a cross-functional team integrating next generation capabilities as part of a very exciting and critically important development effort. You will have the opportunity to operate in an agile development environment, mature our products through the development lifecycle, work on next generation open-architecture model-based designs, and collaborate across multiple disciplines.

The day-to-day activities of this position will be a combination of traditional design engineering, collaborating with cross-functional peers, and presenting technical challenges and solutions to leadership. Frequent interaction with program leadership, customers, and industry partners during critical design phases will be key elements of this position. This position will provide the candidate an opportunity to develop their engineering skills with potential growth into a leadership role.

Position Responsibilities:

• Lead the development of test plans to support key flight test risk reduction activities

• Lead a team of test engineers and provide technical guidance to team members to ensure FTB milestones are executed according to plan

• Lead the execution of flight tests to characterize mission systems sensor performance

• Coordinate with multiple disciplines to define FTB modifications needed to integrate advanced tactical sensors

• Coordinate with Boeing, Test, and Evaluation and Tactical Sensors SMEs to ensure all development activities support the FTB schedule

• Participate in customer led Combined Test Force (CTF) to support system verification and inform customer decisions and milestones

• Manage and monitor team and supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements

• Utilize Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) for test planning, defining test configurations, and documenting test traceability

• Lead hardware and software development, integration, test, and validation/verification

• Address FTB design/integration problems as they arise and coordinate with technology domain experts and suppliers as necessary

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

• 9+ years of related work experience and a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of related work experience and technical education

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

• Experience with flight and/or lab test planning (test plan or test procedure generation) and execution

• Experience with aircraft modifications to support avionics integration

• Experience with integration of Department of Defense (DoD) tactical platforms subsystems

• Experience developing requirements, performing requirement decomposition/traceability, functional decomposition, and interface definition

• Experience working on development programs using an Agile/Scrum methodology

• Experience working in Cameo or similar Model Based Systems Engineering tools

• Experience with verification and validation testing

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking a Vehicle Management System (VMS) Senior Manager to support a proprietary Air Dominance portfolio program located in Berkeley, MO.

The VMS senior manager leads a multi-disciplined team to define, procure, develop, integrate and test an air vehicle VMS. The VMS team is responsible for requirements definition, verification, and validation; hardware selection and integration; VMS software development; and integrated testing in the laboratory and on the final product. The manager will also coordinate with mission systems software, central maintenance software, GN&C, and subsystems managers on program to ensure the integrated VMS product meets requirements. The VMS Leader will also ensure alignment with other portfolio programs on hardware strategies and standards as appropriate. In this role you will lead a distributed team of Software Quality Engineers supporting mission-critical aerospace and defense programs. The Operational Software Deployment & Integration Engineer supports field deployment and integration activities while maintaining strong alignment with lab and development teams in St. Louis. This role provides surge capacity, technical depth, and sustainment engineering to ensure smooth transition of releases into operational environments.

• Support on-site software installations, upgrades, and patch validation.
• Assist in system checkout and verification events.
• Validate environment parity between lab and field deployments.
• Reproduce field defects within lab environments for root cause analysis.
• Capture logs, telemetry, and system state data to support diagnostics.

The Advanced Airborne Sensor is a multi-function radar used on the P-8 Poseidon. The team is responsible for developing and performing engineering for production, sustainment, modification and improvements of military and commercial derivative aircraft. Primary Responsibilities

• Communicate program status, key risks, issues, and opportunities to customers and leadership, and clearly articulate required support or decisions.
• Develop clear, compliant supplier statements of work (SSOW) for ongoing and new requirements, and lead execution to ensure on-time, on-scope delivery.
• Collaborate with customers to define technical requirements and translate them into actionable delivery plans.
• Generate an effective set of metrics to communicate status of contract deliverables.
• Manage program deliverables by developing risk-mitigation strategies, tracking issues and opportunities, and monitoring baseline plans to evaluate project performance and capture lessons learned.
• Communicate technical issues/changes via Change Control Boards and/or Chief Engineer Council
• Resolve technical problems by coordinating between engineering, operations, and suppliers to implement effective solutions.
• Support proposal development efforts, including competitive cost estimating, schedule development, and delivery commitments.
• Track and report progress against cost, schedule, and technical performance using Boeing Program Management Best Practices (PMBP) and Earned Value Management (EVM).
• Provide additional program support as needed, such as responding to Corrective Action Requests (CARs), supporting export compliance, and leading lean/process improvement initiatives.

Position Responsibilities:

• Designs, develops, tests, debugs and maintains software that is integrated into embedded devices and systems and meets industry, customer, safety and regulation standards
• Reviews, analyzes, and translates customer requirements into the design of software products for embedded devices and systems
• Builds and writes code for embedded systems software to run on specific specialized hardware.
• Integrates embedded software with hardware components
• Analyzes, monitors and improves the efficiency and stability of embedded software systems.
• Tests and debugs software for embedded devices and systems.
• Implements current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and changes in regulations relevant to software development and hardware technologies.
• Advises on software and hardware integration domains.
• Tracks and evaluates internal and supplier software team performance to ensure product and process compliance to project plans and industry standards.
• Performs embedded software project management functions.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the US Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Ability to obtain U.S. Security clearance (post-start).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

• 2+ years of experience programming with Go, Java, C/C++, Rust, or Python
• Experience in systems integration with systems engineering processes and procedures
• Strong verbal and written skills, teaming skills, technical skills, and integration skills

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education experience
• 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education experience
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or Engineering related field
• Experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) software build pipeline techniques and software factories such as DevOps & DevSecOps
• Experience debugging and troubleshooting technical problems involving computer memory or timing considerations
• Experience or familiarity with industry tools or development techniques such as the following; Embedded System Software, C, C++, Rust, Linux, VxWorks, Containers, Git, CI/CD DevSecOps, and/or Cameo
