The Leukemia/Lymphoma Unit (6900) provides care to patients who are hospitalized for Chemotherapy, pain management, symptom management related to chemotherapy and support for immunosuppression and/or neutropenia. This 34 bed unit consists of private rooms with eight hepa filtered rooms. The care is moderate to high acuity providing care with a high complexity of interventions which includes Leukemia care, Autologous Stem Cell transplants, Donor cellular infusions, post allogeneic complications, Graft vs. Host disease and a focus on Clinical trials. The multidisciplinary group of care providers includes Bone Marrow transplant physicians, oncology nurses, Case managers, coordinators, social workers, spiritual care, pharmacy and psycho-social support.

The Psychiatry department is composed of three inpatient Psychiatric units and an Outpatient ECT staffed by passionate and knowledgeable professional healthcare providers. With a safe, patient-centered approach to Psychiatric care, we deliver high-quality care using group activity and music therapies, one-to-one care as needed, and an interdisciplinary team in state-of-the-art patient care units.
A combined total of 46 inpatient beds exist across Intensive, Medicine and Geriatric Psych units. The Psychiatric Medicine unit offers a unique opportunity to work in an environment that combines medical and Psychiatry. Intensive Psych allows our team to work with those who are acutely ill. The Geriatric unit is for those who truly have a passion for the elderly population in Psych. Acute Care Medicine has patients with a full range of clinical issues-from significant blood dyscrasias, advanced endocrine pathology, heart and renal failure, GI conditions, infectious diseases, asthma and a multitude of other conditions and diseases.¿ Due to the patient acuity on the nursing division, we provide advanced training to bring new nurses to the highest level of functioning.¿ Each unit is lead by a clinical manager and lead charge nurse.¿ The unit is supported by an advanced practice nurse.¿ Additionally each unit is assigned a case manager, social worker, physical therapist, dietitian, and pharmacist.¿ This multidisciplinary team works in conjunction with the physicians, nurses and patient care technicians to provide quality patient care.

The Graduate Nurse Expedition Program at Barnes-Jewish Hospital is a unique, rotational opportunity designed for newly graduated nurses who are exploring which nursing specialty best fits their long-term career goals. This program allows graduate nurses to gain hands-on experience across multiple specialty medical-surgical units during their first year of practice, providing valuable exposure, skill development, and career clarity.
The Expedition Program is only offered at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and is the only program of its kind within the BJC HealthCare organization.
Program Structure:
- Program will span the first year of employment post-graduation with three different unit rotations for four-months each.
- Participants will be paired 1:1 with a preceptor and utilize the 12 week graduate nurse onboarding pathway during their first rotation.
- Rotations occur across specialty med/surg units
- Program is designed to support progrssional growth, confidence, and informed specialty selection
**Please note: This program does not offer rotations to Women and Infants, ICU, OR or ED floors.**
Qualifications:
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program with a Spring 2026 completion date
• Eligible for Graduate Nurse status with plans to obtain RN licensure per Missouri requirements
• Strong interest in exploring multiple specialty medical-surgical areas
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and critical-thinking skills
