Job Summary and Qualifications
General Statement of Duties: Under the direction of the licensed anesthetist and the RN, the Anesthesia Technician provides anesthesia support to the licensed anesthetist during surgical procedures. The Anesthesia Technician anticipates the needs of the licensed anesthetist through preparation and maintenance of supplies, patient monitoring equipment and anesthesia delivery systems. This includes anticipating anesthesia needs, maintaining stock levels, setting up supplies and equipment, cleaning and storage of equipment, equipment operation, basic troubleshooting and ensuring equipment operation and maintenance. The Anesthesia Technician is an integral member of the perioperative team and he/she works in a collaborative role with the circulating RN and the perioperative team to ensure a safe and optimal patient perioperative experience.
Minimum Education, Experience, Training, Required Knowledge, Skill, Abilities and Other Job-Related Characteristics:
- Education: High school graduate or equivalent
- Experience: none
- Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).
- Preferred: prior anesthesia technician experience in a hospital setting
Essential Job Functions:
1. Anticipates the needs of the licensed anesthetist for regional, epidural and spinal blocks and the induction of general anesthesia through the application of technical knowledge and competence in set-up, operation and troubleshooting of anesthesia delivery systems, monitors and ancillary devices to include the laryngoscope, intubation equipment and IV solution and tubing set-up.
2. Consistently uses aseptic technique, and correctly sets up and prepares needed supplies and equipment for invasive line monitoring. Assists the anesthetist in the preparation and draping for invasive line placement and monitoring.
3. Maintains designated par levels of anesthesia supplies and ensures carts are stocked with immediate use items used for operative procedures. Participates in evaluating new equipment/supplies that pertains to the anesthesia service.
4. Ensures utilized equipment is appropriately cleaned, stored and in proper working order prior to use; performs basic equipment troubleshooting as necessary. Submits work orders in a timely manner for needed maintenance/repairs. Properly cleans and stores equipment after use. Schedules preventative maintenance as required and follows up on completion.
5. Consistently cleans, disinfects, sterilizes and ensures availability of utilized anesthesia equipment according to AORN standards and practices.
6. Works in collaboration with the circulating RN and assists with the placement of non-invasive monitoring devices (blood pressure cuff, EKG leads and pulse oximeter probe), patient transport and positioning, as directed.
Additional Job Functions:
1. May have access to non-controlled medication storage areas to include the anesthesia boxes or carts that are used in surgical treatment of patient.

Job Summary and QualificationsResponsible for providing high quality intra - and interfacility advanced life support including assessment, triage, treatment and transport utilizing standards and guidelines established by the State of Texas and Methodist Healthcare Medical Director(s). The Paramedic will be responsible for carrying out the mission of Methodist Healthcare, Methodist Medical Transport Team, and goals of assuring that safety remains the highest priority throughout the patient care continuum.

- Advanced patient assessment and monitoring
- Advanced clinical interventions including but not limited to: mechanical ventilation, medication infusions and advanced airway management within the scope of practice
- Safe and efficient inter/intra-facility transport
- Clear, consistent and accurate documentation and communication
- Participation in continuous quality improvement initiatives and continuing education
- Maintain vehicle readiness through completing daily checks, ensuring cleanliness, and restocking supplies
- Responsible for completion and submission of electronic patient care record for each dispatched transport within the specified time frame
- Responsible for daily base checks, which includes narcotic count.
- Provide pre-hospital and intra-hospital advanced life support care from initial contact until patient care is relinquished to the accepting medical facility maintaining thorough patient care documentation.
- Maintains competency in knowledge and psychomotor skills by participating in ongoing clinical experiences.
- Education: High School Diploma
- Experience: Minimum 3 years as a Paramedic.
- Preferred: 5 years of 911 or similar agency with advanced protocol.

Summary:
Under supervision, the incumbent of this position provides professional nursing care to clinic patients. Works collaboratively with the providers within the team setting to facilitate quality care for the patient.
Responsibilities:

All pharmacists fill orders for drugs, monitor patient drug therapies and provide drug information. Pharmacists provide pharmacy services with compassion, excellence, and efficiency.
Responsibilities:

Operational Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares and dispenses drug orders per physician request according to established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Interprets drug orders (verbal and written) and transcribes/verifies into computerized patient medication record accurately. Maintains, accurate, complete patient drug record.
- Compounds and dispenses pharmaceuticals including non-sterile and sterile products, chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition products accurately.
- Issues controlled substances to patient care areas and maintains records as required by law and institutional policies.
- Provides services efficiently and in a timely fashion.
- Maintains current pharmacist license. Ensures applicable CE records and licensure are maintained in department files. Attends staff meetings.
- Completes all competency/skills assessment requirements.

Performs duties in the clinical areas assigned such as but not limited to anticoagulation clinics, intensive medical home, transition of care, Discharge Medication reconciliation, etc.
Clinical Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensures safe, appropriate, cost-effective drug therapies for patients according to established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Monitors drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies and appropriateness of drug and dose.
- Assists with pharmacokinetics consult service and renal drug dosing per hospital protocol.
- Reads, extracts, and interprets information in patient medical records accurately.
- Detects and reports suspected adverse drug reactions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Sustains the hospital drug formulary, minimizing non-formulary procurements, utilizing therapeutic substitution protocols, and promoting rational drug therapy selection.
- Provides clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners as appropriate.

- Provides drug education to patients and their families per institutional protocol.

Summary:
Performs a variety of complex administrative duties for patients in need of routine and/or urgent appointments, medical procedures, tests, and associated ancillary services in an ambulatory in/outpatient setting. Assess patients’ needs, including but not limited to, financial counseling, interpreter services, social services and refers to appropriate person or area. Alerts providers to emergent patient care needs.
Responsibilities:
- Receives and directs phone calls from patients and physician offices
- Schedules patients for treatment by multiple providers and treatment areas, and arranges a variety of associated tests and procedures according to established guidelines and specific criteria
- Prioritizes appointments in a manner that fosters optimum patient care, efficient utilization of physician’s clinical staff, as well as equipment and facilities
- Handles urgent patient care calls and may alert providers to emergent patient care symptoms and concerns
- Schedules urgent care appointments as needed and directed by physician
- Greets patients for scheduled and/or urgent care appointments and procedures
- Confirms and verifies patient demographic and insurance information
- Collect co-payments from patients upon arrival when applicable
- Obtains signatures of consent from patient/guardian for treatment authorization and insurance/billing information
- Collaborates with insurers to obtain patients’ prior-authorizations for procedures and tests as needed
- Follows guidelines established by insurers to ensure that pre-authorization, pre-certification, and physician referrals for treatment are obtained prior to patient visits.
- Verifies eligibility for procedures or tests from various health care institutions
- Reviews and audits billing discrepancy reports and researches errors for resolution
- Maintains accurate and timely records, logs, charges, files, and other related information as required
- Performs a variety of related administrative and clerical duties, such as retrieving files and other records, faxing, collating, data entry, and relaying messages to physicians, residents and staff
- Prepares special reports or spreadsheets for physicians as requested
- Complies with established departmental policies, procedures and objectives
- Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements
- Contributes in maintaining a respectful environment of professionalism, tolerance, and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors
- Performs other duties as required.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Proficient in software and computer systems
- Knowledgeable of business office terminology / procedures
- Ability to multi task and work under stressful situation
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- 1+ year of customer service experience required
- Experience with medical office terminology preferred
