Job Description
Responsibilities
- This technician will support a large federal agency's Network Infrastructure through survey, design, and deployment of structured networks and will be responsible for the upkeep of the security posture of the environment
- This is accomplished through projects such as new installations, life cycle replacement projects, Cable Plant and wireless installations that are compliant with commercial, TEMPEST, and NIST standards
- Lead network survey, design and installations under direction of the government
- analyze, test, troubleshoot, and evaluate existing network systems, such as local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), cloud networks, servers, and other data communications networks.
- Perform network maintenance to ensure networks operate correctly with minimal interruption.
- Knowledge of DISA network topologies and standards
- Topology and rack elevations using Visio
- Create detailed Site Survey reports detailing a site's current infrastructure, NIST and TEMPEST compliance, along with design recommendations
- Configure, install, test, certify, and troubleshoot network infrastructure cabling
- Ensure Network cabling infrastructure is compliant with current NIST and TEMPEST Standards
- Build and install equipment racks
- Install, dress, label, and terminate Cat6 and Fiber cable in telecommunications rooms
- Test and troubleshoot network infrastructure issues on SIPR and NIPR networks
- Create accurate reports and documentation to design/certify network infrastructure
- Track, manage, and ensure project tasks are completed in a timely manner
- Develop Bills of Material (BOM) for network plant design requirements
- Plan and perform preventive maintenance and scheduled upgrades (Life-cycle replacements)
- Investigate physical faults in the network
- Report network infrastructure deployment status to key stakeholders
