Job Title : Oceanography Category / Component: Officer • Both Overview Oceanography (OCEANO) Officers, also called METOC, are the Navy's geophysical experts who understand and apply all facets of meteorology, oceanography, hydrography, bathymetry, geophysics, and precise time and astrometry.

Their mission is to define and apply the physical environment, from the bottom of the ocean to the stars, to ensure the U.S.

Navy has the freedom of action to deter aggression, maintain freedom of the seas, and win wars.

Key Responsibilities Provide timely and relevant support to fleet and joint operations by leading the collection, processing, prediction, exploitation, and dissemination of environmental data.

Ensure safety of navigation, access to denied waters, freedom to maneuver at will, and increase the lethality of Navy forces.

Lead teams ranging from small 3-4 person deployable units to large commands of over 400 personnel.

Serve as the one-of-one geophysical expert at an operational command.

What to Expect Serve in a variety of challenging operational billets with increasing scope and responsibility, both at sea and ashore.

The career path interweaves sea, shore, and educational tours.

Sea duty may include leading small team detachments on U.S.

and foreign vessels, serving as the embarked OCEANO Officer on an aircraft carrier or amphibious ship, or serving on a Strike Group or Joint Task Force staff.

Shore tours include assignments at major production commands, forecast centers, headquarters, Joint commands, the Navy Data Center, and Naval Research Labs.

Work Environment Assignments are worldwide, including Europe, Hawaii, Asia, and the Middle East.

Work environments range from being at sea on surface combatants, survey vessels, aircraft carriers, and amphibious ships to being ashore at major production commands, forecast centers, headquarters, and research facilities.

Pathways, Training & Advancement Initial training includes the 3-week Information Warfare Basic Course (IWBC) and the 7-week Basic Oceanography Accession Training (BOAT).

Officers may also attend Division Officer Leadership Course (DIVOLC).

Postgraduate education at the Naval Postgraduate School is required for officers at the LCDR level and senior, typically as mid-grade Lieutenants.

Promotions to LTJG and LT occur at 2 and 4 years of service, with competitive promotion opportunities to LCDR, CDR, CAPT, and Flag Officer ranks.

Requires a Baccalaureate degree, preferably in a technical field, with a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or greater.

Must have completed a full college calculus series (I and II) with a minimum 'C' average, and a college-level calculus-based physics series (I and II) with a minimum 'B' average.

A desired degree is in physics, physics-based oceanography, meteorology, hydrography, earth science, engineering, or mathematics.

Cascade Steel is currently hiring a Maintenance Planner to support efforts within the Maintenance Department including the utilization of maintenance labor, Craft utilization and overall equipment availability. Planning serves the entire team by accurately planning complex jobs, assuring required parts are available and properly estimating labor hours required. Planner will establish planning meeting with production to ensure scheduling can be agreed upon and conducted without interruption in the work assignments

Specific Responsibilities

• Creates Safe work plans/pre job safety analysis for all tasks.
• Work with Warehouse Supervisor to attain and stage parts for jobs prior to job start date.
• Utilize outside vendors when required to complete tasks.
• Approves Work Request and plans as priority dictates.
• Gathers relevant technical documentation such as drawings, schematics, specifications, spare parts lists from equipment histories, OEM manuals and the Knowledgebase system. Verifies the availability of parts prior to scheduling the job. Arrange for special tools and auxiliary equipment when required.
• Plans work in Planning Status by accurately assigning estimated hours and material.
• Maintains an organized and prioritized work order backlog to determine the next highest priority jobs to be planned next and maintains the Ready Backlog.
• Assures required parts to complete the W/O are on hand at time of work order starting.
• Manages all work orders in the Ready status for readiness for Scheduler.
• Enters requisitions for parts that are not on hand for active W/Os.
• Expedite parts as needed for equipment downtime emergencies.
• Creates new PM procedures as required for input in CMMS system.
• Verifies PM changes or PM additions are updated and active in CMMS for planning.
• Adds items to the equipment Bill of Materials as discovered.
• Conducts weekly planning meetings with Production to determine work order priorities, communicate work order status and alter planned maintenance activities if necessary.
• Evaluates non-emergency work requests, develops scope of work, and inspects job location to determine job requirements.
• Estimates labor hours, skillsets, parts, materials, equipment, and special tools required to complete proactive jobs in a safe and efficient manner.

Required Skills

• Candidate for this role should have a maintenance background and knowledge understanding maintenance systems, like eAM Oracle, SAP and/or Infor.
• Combined experience of hands-on maintenance & maintenance planning/scheduling.
• Proficient with many CMMS systems, Oracle eAM, SAP, and software like Excel, Word, MS Office, Outlook and have excellent technical writing skills.
• Improves work order planning and scheduling effectiveness through the review process and use of the maintenance metrics.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of maintenance scheduling / planning experience and/or 5 – 10 years as a machine repair technician, or equivalent combination of both.
• Familiar with metals recycling manufacturing environment.
• Electrical/mechanical aptitude.
• Experience in CMMS systems like Oracle eAM, Sap, MP7, Maximo and or Infor.
• Proficiency with computers, and applications including Microsoft Office.
• Excellent verbal communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
• Ability to build and maintain positive, professional relationships.
• Desire to develop leadership attributes.
• Experience in job plan development, job scheduling, and work execution.
• Project management and capital project experience preferred.

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Buyer II to join our Supply Chain team. This role is ideal for a procurement professional who not only brings a strong understanding of ERP systems but has also played a key role in an ERP implementation. The successful candidate will have a solid grasp of full supply chain planning processes, have strong analytical skills and advanced Excel capabilities. The Buyer II will be responsible for executing purchase orders, managing supplier relationships, and driving continuous improvement across procurement operations. The ideal candidate is eager to take initiative, improve processes, and contribute to the success of a dynamic, growing manufacturing environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Analyze and act on MRP (Material Requirements Planning) signals to ensure material availability and optimal inventory levels
• Issue and manage purchase orders, ensuring alignment with production schedules and lead time requirements
• Collaborate with Planning, Production, Quality, and Engineering to support end-to-end supply chain visibility and efficiency
• Maintain accurate item master data and supplier information in ERP systems
• Use advanced Excel tools (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Power Query, charts, formulas) for data analysis and reporting
• Monitor supplier performance and lead initiatives to improve delivery, quality, and cost performance
• Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action planning for material shortages and delays
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities in procurement processes, supplier performance, and internal workflows
• Drive cost reduction and value creation initiatives without compromising quality or service
• Leverage ERP implementation experience to optimize procurement processes, improve data accuracy, and enhance end-to-end supply chain visibility.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, or related field
• 3–10 years of experience in a Buyer, Purchasing, or Procurement role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Strong understanding of MRP systems and supply chain planning concepts
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel; ability to manipulate large data sets and build dashboards or models
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Intuitive, Syteline, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent)
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Continuous improvement mindset with a track record of driving or supporting process enhancements
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• APICS (CPIM or CSCP) or ISM certification
• Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma tools and methodologies
• Experience with supplier development or strategic sourcing projects
