Hours of work: Mondays - Fridays, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, 40 Hrs/Wk - Nominally a 40-hour per week position; however, plant issues will dictate actual requirements.
The Director - Manufacturing Maintenance and Projects will support the Facilities department with the implementation of a comprehensive capital management program for the Americas. The Director - Manufacturing Maintenance and Projects will have direct responsibility for projects up to $1MM and all maintenance activities for the region. Overall, the objective is to achieve high plant on stream factors utilizing the Kuraray maintenance tools provided and adapted to meet the needs of Calgon Carbon with site specific gap analysis and corrective action plans. Additionally, the Director - Manufacturing Maintenance and Projects will have a global responsibility as maintenance liaison with Kuraray in support of MTE and DX strategies.
Budget for minor projects (up to $1MM) is approximately $30MM for the US Plants. The maintenance budgets for the US plants total is $34MM, and the average annual turnaround spend for the Prime lines is another $5MM per year
Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to)
- Identify project needs, oversee the creation of AR's, plan work, and execute projects for all America’s capital project requirements
- Manage others, train, and delegate these activities to subordinates to expedite improvement
- Oversee the development of all aspects of the America’s maintenance budget, including capital projects
- Strive to maintain spending at the budgeted level
- Serve as Calgon Carbon’s subject matter expert (SME) pertaining to maintenance in its virgin carbon manufacturing and reactivation facilities and liaison with Kuraray regarding all matters maintenance related
- Oversee the scheduling, planning, and execution of plant maintenance turnarounds on a basis consistent with the maintenance strategy
- Develop a maintenance strategy that aligns with the plants' goals to reduce product costs and reduce required maintenance capital
- Manage line managers responsible for supervising the day to day activities of maintenance teams while moving them toward self direction
- Identify training and development needs of maintenance teams and insure that those needs are met
- Manage vendor relationships personally and via subordinates to insure that plant needs (quality, costs, and timing) are met
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.), or equivalent from four-year college or university) is required
- Engineering degree required; electrical or mechanical preferred
- 10+ years Plant maintenance and mid-level management is required
- 10+ years Plant environment maintenance management experience is preferred

Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician
NAVY EOD: CAREER DETAILS & REQUIREMENTS
Responsibilities
As an EOD Tech, you'll receive extensive training to perform missions neutralizing explosive weapons in almost every environment. Your duties may require you to:
Detonate and demolish hazardous munitions, pyrotechnics and outdated explosives
Neutralize various ordnance, including sea mines, torpedoes or depth charges
Work with cutting-edge technology to remotely disable unsafe ordnance
Perform parachute or helicopter insertion operations
Support law enforcement agencies
Clear waterways of mines in support of our ships and submarines
Lend your skills and support to other military units or offices, such as the U.S. Secret Service or the U.S. Department of State
Work Environment
Your missions will take you to every corner of the world. One assignment may have you parachuting from 17,000 feet into enemy territory, while the next may deliver you stealthily to a foreign nation via an 11-foot RHIB boat. It all depends on which unit you're supporting and the type of mission to be completed. Though there will be administrative work, the majority of your time will be spent in the field.
Training & Advancement
Upon completion of the initial 10-week training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes (known as boot camp), you'll begin a specialized training program to prepare you for your career as an EOD Tech.
EOD Preparatory Course
(four weeks) -
The Navy EOD training pipeline starts with preparatory training in Great Lakes, IL. Candidates work on swim stroke development, long-range swims and physical conditioning. Candidates receive daily human performance coaching on mental resiliency, strength training form, running, swimming, calisthenics as well as proper rest, recovery and nutrition. Classroom instruction includes introductions to small boat operations, professional military education and risk management.
EOD Assessment and Selection Course
(four weeks)
- After prep, candidates will be challenged in a grueling training environment in which they are constantly assessed on their comfort in the water, physical fitness, academic ability, professionalism and peer rankings. Classroom instruction includes topics such as risk management, dive physics, diving medicine, small boat navigation and Navy maintenance. Daily physical training and assessments are centered around five advanced aquatic adaptability skills, ruck runs, distance swims and the human performance test. At the end of the course, candidates will participate in a formal selection board. Here, instructors will select the best qualified and most likely to successfully complete advanced training to graduate and proceed to diver training.
Diver Training
(seven weeks)

Next comes dive school at the Naval Diving and Salvage Training Center (NDSTC) in Panama City, FL. Training covers basic concepts of scuba diving as well as dive physics, physiology and basic dive medicine. Candidates also learn about equipment such as the MK16 underwater rebreather and MK25 underwater rebreather.
EOD School
(44 weeks) -
After successfully completing dive school, candidates transfer to Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal School at Eglin Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, FL. This training comes in several sections, each section building upon the skills learned from previous areas of training. Candidates will train in demolition operations, rendering safe bombs, missiles, landmines, defusing Improvise Explosive Devices (IEDs), protecting and detecting against Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) weapons and mastering skills needed to defeat underwater ordnance such as sea mines and torpedoes.
Basic Parachute Training
(three weeks) -
After completing basic EOD school, graduates attend basic airborne training ("jump school") at Fort Benning, GA, where they qualify as a basic parachutist.
EOD Tactical Training
(four weeks) -
The final phase of training is in San Diego, CA. It teaches helicopter insertion (fast-rope, rappel, cast and special patrol insertion, and extraction rigging), small arms/weapons training, small unit tactics (weapons, self-defense, land navigation and patrolling) and tactical communications (satellite and high frequency).
Upon successful completion of the EOD training pipeline, graduates are assigned to EOD mobile units where they gain advanced on-the-job training and experience as members of EOD platoons.

If you are detail-oriented, possess strong technical skills, and thrive in a collaborative environment, we invite you to apply and be a part of our mission to deliver excellence in aviation.Position Responsibilities:Work from blueprints, documents, standards, and other required specifications to complete assigned tasks.Obtain daily work assignments from the team leader or supervisor and read Installation Plans and applicable drawings to determine work areas.Select appropriate cleaning solvents and clean interior and exterior surfaces prior to sealing.Load sealing guns and clean sealing equipment, ensuring proper functionality.Hand mix sealant as required and perform rework or pickups on assigned assemblies.Assist with pressure testing operations as assigned.Use specified agents and procedures for tasks such as removing protective coatings, applying corrosion inhibitors, and reactivating paint surfaces.Ensure proper grounding of the aircraft prior to cleaning operations and set up ventilation equipment to supply fresh air in work areas.Keep supervisors informed of progress and coordinate information with employees on other shifts.Mask areas as required to facilitate corrosion removal or painting operations.Prepare fuel vents for leak tests and restore them to normal after testing.Apply corrosion preventative seal as required and measure, layout, and apply aerodynamic seals to skin gaps on leading and trailing edge panels.Submit completed jobs or in-process checks to inspectors for acceptance or rejection.Apply decals, metalcals, placards, and charts to specific locations on parts and assemblies as required.Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.This position is expected to be 100% onsite.
