Status: Full-Time
Compensation: $425-$600K+
Benefits: Ownership Pathway | Mentorship | Doctor- Owned Practice
Why You’ll Love Working Here
Coastal Virginia Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is a long-standing, referral-based private practice built on trust, consistency, and strong relationships with patients, referring doctors, and one another. The culture here is relaxed, professional, and collaborative, with an emphasis on doing the right thing clinically while supporting one another as a team. There is no corporate pressure, no private equity influence, and no ego-driven environment, just high-quality surgery delivered by people who enjoy working together.
We are proudly 100% doctor-owned, with no plans to sell to private equity. This means your voice matters, and you can build a long-term future here with true stability, autonomy, and a clear path to ownership.
You’ll be supported by a seasoned team across three established locations, with 26 team members and eight full-time assistants who keep days running smoothly. The practice is well organized, efficiently staffed, and referral-driven, allowing you to focus on surgery rather than administrative distractions. Schedules stay full due to a strong reputation and consistent referral flow throughout the region.
Mentorship here is real and practical. You’ll work alongside experienced surgeons who are accessible, supportive, and responsive when questions arise. The expectation is not micromanagement but collaboration, communication, and growth. Whether you’re coming straight out of residency or early in your career, this environment is designed to help you gain confidence, refine your skills, and grow professionally.
This is also a stable, doctor-owned practice with a clear and defined ownership pathway. The intent is to bring on an associate who wants to build long-term and eventually step into ownership within 1.5–2 years. Leadership is transparent, growth-minded, and invested in the practice's future and the people who build it.
Outside the practice, Coastal Virginia offers an exceptional quality of life. Virginia Beach offers access to the ocean, outdoor activities, and strong schools, with a family-friendly atmosphere and a manageable cost of living. You’re within driving distance of major cities, the Outer Banks, and the mountains, making it easy to build both a career and a life here..
Our Core Values
- Patient-First Care – Every treatment recommendation is rooted in what’s best for the patient. Clear communication, empathy, and helping anxious patients feel comfortable are non-negotiables here.
- Ownership Mentality – Doctors are encouraged to think beyond their own schedules and take initiative with referrals, relationships, and growth. This practice values people who want to help build something meaningful.
- Humble, Coachable Growth – Confidence matters, but ego does not. Feedback, learning, and continuous improvement are part of the culture, regardless of experience level.
- Team-First Collaboration – The practice runs smoothly because people support one another. Doctors, assistants, and leadership work together in a respectful, low-drama environment.
- Community Connection – Building relationships with referring dentists and being present in the local community is part of long-term success here.
What You’ll Do
- Provide bread-and-butter oral surgery, including extractions, third molars, and implants.
- Perform in-office anesthesia and sedation as the provider.
- Rotate across three established locations with a consistent home base 2–3 days per week.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with referring general dentists.
- Work closely with a skilled, experienced clinical and support team to deliver efficient, high-quality care.

Why This Job Stands Out
- True Ownership Opportunity
This is a 100% doctor-owned practice with no private equity involvement. The ownership path is clearly defined and realistic. You’re joining a place that wants you to build equity, not just produce.
- Strong, Consistent Referral Flow
The practice has served the region since 1985 and maintains deep referral relationships. Schedules stay full without aggressive marketing tactics. You’ll walk into an established patient and referral base.
- Supportive Mentorship Without Micromanagement
Mentorship is available when you need it, without hovering or ego. You’re trusted as a surgeon while still having support. It’s an environment built for growth and confidence.
- Balanced, Professional Culture
The team works hard, supports each other, and enjoys a relaxed, respectful atmosphere. There’s a clear expectation of professionalism without unnecessary pressure. People genuinely like coming to work.
- Lifestyle Location
Virginia Beach offers coastal living, outdoor recreation, and strong schools. The area supports both family life and long-term stability. It’s a place where many doctors choose to settle, not just pass through.
Who We’re Looking For
Someone who is:
- Proactive, motivated, and interested in growing both clinically and professionally
- Comfortable building referral relationships and engaging with the local dental community
- Confident but humble, with a willingness to seek feedback and continue learning
- A strong communicator who helps patients feel calm, informed, and cared for
