Annual Base Salary for newly appointed CBPOs varies as follows:
Locality pay varies by duty location.
Note: A fully trained CBPO is eligible for up to $45,000 in overtime pay in addition to the starting salary.
Grade level eligibility and salaries vary depending upon background, including experience and education, and duty location of the opportunity. This is a career ladder position with a grade level progression of GS-5, GS-7, GS-9, GS-11, and GS-12. You will be eligible for a promotion to the next higher grade level (without re-applying) once you successfully complete 52 weeks in each grade level. Promotions are at the discretion of the agency.
Officers are eligible to select from an array of federal employment benefits that include health, dental and other insurance plans, a generous annual and sick leave program, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan, a retirement plan akin to a traditional and ROTH 401(k) offering.
Qualifications:
You qualify for the GS-9 grade level in one of the following ways: experience, education, or a combination of both.
Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level that includes:
- Detaining suspected violators of federal, state, or local laws and/or arresting violators using the proper law enforcement methods.
- Enforcing the laws and regulations relating to importing, exporting, and/or international shipping to and from the United States.
- Utilizing intelligence techniques and behavior analysis to identify potential threats and perform risk assessments for violations of laws and threats to national security.
- Conducting interviews in a law enforcement capacity for the purposes of gaining information from suspected violators of laws to determine the appropriate course of action.
The above experience will be applied in connection with the following: Ability to make rapid, accurate judgments and decisions with respect to the application of the regulations, instructions, and procedures for importing and exporting merchandise to and from the United States; or enforcement and administration of laws relating to the right of persons to enter, reside in or depart from the United States, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Education Substitution: A master's (or higher) degree, or two or more years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.B. or J.D. from an accredited college or university; OR
Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of specialized experience AND successfully completed graduate-level education. This will be calculated using your resume and official or unofficial transcripts submitted with your application.
Other Requirements:
Citizenship: You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this position.
Residency: You must have had primary U.S. residency (includes protectorates as declared under international law) for at least three (3) of the last five (5) years.
Age Restriction: In accordance with Public Law 100-238, this position is covered under law enforcement retirement provisions. Candidates must be referred for selection to the Customs and Border Protection Officer position before reaching their 40th birthday in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Directive 251-03. The age restriction may not apply if you are currently serving or have previously served in a federal civilian law enforcement (non-military) position covered by Title 5 U.S.C. 8336(c) or Title 5 U.S.C. 8412(d).
Veterans’ Preference: You may also be eligible for an excepted service Veterans Recruitment Appointment (VRA). The age restriction does not apply if you are Veterans' Preference eligible.
Formal Training: You will be required to complete a paid pre-academy orientation for approximately two (2) weeks at your home port. You will then attend a 101-day training program – CBP Field Operations Academy – conducted at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) located in Glynco, GA. This training consists of basic law enforcement skills, immigration laws, firearms training, examination of cargo/bags/merchandise, physical fitness, etc. Candidates assigned to the southern border, Miami, or Puerto Rico duty locations must attend and pass an online Spanish training program, which will be completed at their home port. Successful completion of the Academy is required for this position.

Job Title: Product/Program Lead
Primary objectives include:
- Ensuring successful adoption of the Worker Interface by county and human services staff.
- Preparing documentation and training materials to support education and adoption of the Worker Interface program staff and the pilot county and human services staff.
- Ensuring workflows reflect client's program policy, operational realities, and program directives.
- Incorporating human-centered design principles and family voice consistent with Whole Family Approach.
- Reducing implementation risk and ensuring the Worker Interface is fit for purpose through early stakeholder engagement and iterative feedback.
Deliverables:
Deliverable 1: Identify, engage, and build relationships:
- Aligning the local agencies to the project goals and objectives.
- Consistent and clear outreach and coordination with agency leadership and frontline staff.
- Lead the onboarding of pilot agencies to the project.
- Building and communicating clear plans, schedules, designs, success outcomes and readiness goals.
- Engaging directly and indirectly with the workers that will utilize the Worker Interface to facilitate confidence and success in the pilot.
- Establish norms and guidelines for pilot agency engagement and participation criteria.
Deliverable 2: Participate fully in the project team designing, building and deploying the Worker Interface.
- Participation requires adopting the internal meeting schedule, following established program procedures and leading local agency project meetings.
- Responsible for providing structured user feedback on potential development.
Deliverable 3: Drive the documentation and prioritization of the requirements for the Worker Interface by:
- Conducting interviews, workshops, and/or surveys with the local agencies participating in the pilot.
- Representing the needs and requirements of the workers in all internal project meetings and through consistent documentation.
- Building and facilitating clear communication channels and feedback loops between the local agencies and the project team.
- Adhering to human services program and policy directives, specifically around SNAP and the cash and food benefits programs.

- Identifying and documenting operational and program needs at the local agency level into actionable requirements and backlog enhancements.

This person will be working within the Infrastructure organization helping support the design, implementing, troubleshooting and management of complex voice and data networks. Their day to day will consist of operational and troubleshooting of requests in the backend systems, making sure call logs are working correctly, and optimization through services. They will help support the project base for 2026 and 2027 pipeline. The main tools and technologies required are Cisco CUBE, Oracle eSBC/ECB, Cisco Unified Communications Manager, and Microsoft Teams for direct routing and configuration. Additionally, this person will be helping mentor and lead junior engineers through projects and also overseeing project workload.

We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Digital Content Specialist II on our Digital Marketing team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 3 days a week in the office.
As a Digital Content Specialist II, you will support UX copywriting and content
across AMA's digital platforms, with a primary focus on FREIDA, a platform that
helps medical students search for and evaluate residency programs. The role contributes
to the creation of specialty-specific informational content, user-facing copy,
and messaging that helps guide medical students, residents, and physicians
through critical career decisions. Working under established UX and content
standards, this role applies UX writing best practices to improve clarity,
engagement, and usability. The position works closely with product, UX, and
marketing teams to ensure content is consistent, effective, and aligned with
the overall member experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Writing and Content Development
- Write comprehensive Q&A content for individual medical specialties within the FREIDA Specialty Guide
- Develop and maintain informational content across FREIDA resources, including the Residency Guide and student-facing guidance materials
- Develop copy for the Program Director Portal, including guidance, instructions, and resource content
- Create push notifications, alert banners, and promotional messaging to support engagement and highlight key deadlines and seasonal activities
- Collaborate with medical education stakeholders to ensure content accuracy and clinical appropriateness
FREIDA Content
- Create clear, concise, and user-centered copy for FREIDA and AMA digital properties that support the FREIDA experience, including AMAone and related join/renew and sign-in flows
- Write and optimize UX copy for onboarding sequences, navigation, error states, and transactional touchpoints
- Work on landing page and member-facing content that supports usability and conversion goals
- Collaborate with UX designers to integrate copy early in the design process and support effective content-design collaboration
- Conduct content audits and contribute recommendations to improve clarity and usability
User Insight and Industry Awareness
- Develop an understanding of medical student, resident, and physician behaviors to inform content strategy and UX copy decisions
- Apply user insight and evolving UX and healthcare education trends to support product, design, and marketing initiatives
- Refine content based on user feedback, observed behavior, and performance data
May include other responsibilities as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field required
- Ability to translate complex or regulated information into clear, user-centered language
- Experience collaborating with product, design, and marketing teams through content contributions
- Experience supporting content standards, including voice, tone, and style guidelines
- Comfort presenting recommendations and incorporating stakeholder feedback
- Hands-on experience with enterprise CMS platforms, preferably Drupal, and collaboration tools including JIRA, Confluence, Asana and Figma
- Working knowledge of Google Analytics and Power BI to inform content improvements

This role is an exempt position, and the salary range for this position is $74,160-$98,318. This is the lowest to highest salary we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to business consideration and geographical location, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
