About the Role
Legacybox is the category leader in media digitization, processing over 150,000 customer orders per year and millions of unique analog assets across film, tape, and photo formats. Our production facility operates at the intersection of legacy physical media, custom hardware, proprietary software, and an increasingly cloud-first delivery model.
We are hiring a Head of Digitizing Systems & Software to own, evolve, and future-proof the core systems that power our digitizing plant. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, measuring, and continuously improving the end-to-end digitizing systems that convert fragile analog media into secure digital assets at scale.
This is a hands-on leadership role. It blends systems engineering, applied R&D, software-hardware integration, labor optimization, and unit-economics discipline. The work spans old and new technologies and requires comfort operating in ambiguity while building durable, repeatable systems.
Key Responsibilities
Digitizing Systems Ownership
- Own the architecture and performance of Legacybox's digitizing systems across all formats (film, tapes, photos).
- Lead the implementation of new digitizing systems designed internally, including custom hardware, software, and workflows.
- Ensure systems are reliable, measurable, scalable, and economically sound.
R&D and New System Development
- Research, prototype, and develop next-generation digitizing setups that improve quality, throughput, and margin.
- Lead R&D initiatives from concept through production rollout.
- Identify and develop new revenue-generating systems and capabilities.
Order Management System Leadership
- Help architect, build, and lead the order management system that tracks and orchestrates millions of unique physical and digital assets annually.

Profitability and Economics
- Conduct profitability analysis on new systems, workflows, and production setups.

Labor and Time Studies
- Perform detailed time studies to understand how human labor interacts with machines and software.

- Define success metrics for systems performance, reliability, and quality.

Key Deliverables
- Have a goal of delivering the Ultimate Customer Experience
- Advocate safety by creating a Zero injury culture to protect our people and our customers assets.
- Oversee all field service activities for process heating with the IPS
- Maintain accurate data for evaluation and provide feedback to Engineering. Manufacturing, and Sales departments.

- Stay current with technology that affects the commercial and industrial process heating.
Key Activities & Responsibilities
- Has responsibility for all field service activities for Thermal heating.
- Responsible for the preparation of department budget and compliance with the budget.
- Organize, coordinate, and develop a staff to effectively provide field service activities for our distributors and/or customers.
- Responsible for organizing, developing, and presenting service training for Astec, Inc. customers, including maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and operating instructions.
- Responsible for telephone service assistance as needed, working from Astec, Inc. offices or home.
- Provide accurate data for evaluation by Engineering and Manufacturing Departments for immediate solutions and make recommendations as needed.
- Evaluate staff performance at meeting company and personal performance goals and make recommendations based on appraisals. Ensure performance appraisals are utilized throughout the department.
- Review and approve expense reports, while controlling costs and following the guidelines in our travel policy.
- Review and approve employee timecards. This includes time management for overtime and work schedule from the office to the field.
- Coordinate issuance of Service Bulletins and follow up on completion of said work.
- Serve on committee and focus groups as assigned.
- Participate in staff meetings and other meetings as needed across all sites.
