Position Announcement


The University of Massachusetts School of Law - Dartmouth invites applications for the position of Assistant Teaching Professor. The professor will teach Legal Skills I and II courses in which students develop abilities in legal research, writing, analysis, and advocacy. Legal Skills I and II are part of the law school's first-year curriculum. The position will begin July 1, 2026. Applicants must be available to teach in the day and evening divisions as needed.


The law school's mission emphasizes public service and access to legal education. The law school seeks to prepare students to practice law in a competent and ethical manner while serving the community. We offer a robust legal education program that includes nine required credits of Legal Skills, including six in the first year, an Upper-Level Writing Requirement, simulated practice courses, in-house and off-campus clinical programs, and a field placement program under the guidance of experienced practitioners.

Undergraduate Level Teaching:

Requirements:

  • Ensure product after each changeover is being verified to ensure compliance to product requirements.
  • To record and maintain all and clear inspection information in designated check sheet.
  • To initiate Non-Conformance Report when defective product condition is observed, including updating the required log for traceability purpose. Follow up with department personnel responsible for effective containment and resolution of issue.
  • Monitor status of product on hold and work with cross functional team to ensure disposition of material is performed in a timely manner.
  • Perform Layered Process Audit (LPA) to ensure that all required process and product characteristics is being complied with.

The Department of Adult Nursing invites applications for Part-time Lecturer (PTL) opportunities at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Opportunities are available for clinical and didactic assignments. Undergraduate Level Teaching:

Requirements:

SUMMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION: The ESOL Instructor provides group instruction to adult learners. Instructors are required to create lesson plans and align the curriculum with the Adult Basic Education Curriculum Framework for English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). The ESOL Instructor must maintain appropriate student records, conduct goal setting activities, facilitate activities to achieve students' goals, and document student outcomes. The ESOL Instructor is expected to provide academic advising to students and assist students with transitioning to next steps in their academic and/or career experience.


The contract period is through June 30, 2026, with possible renewal, September 1, 2026, thru June 30, 2027.


EXAMPLES OF PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Teach one evening class of 6 hrs to WEP students.
  • Select and develop appropriate materials for class use.
  • Create lesson plans and align curriculum with Curriculum Framework for ESOL.
  • Maintain appropriate student records (e.g. attendance, goals, outcomes, assessments, contact notes, exit information).
  • Conduct goal setting activities, facilitate activities designed to achieve students' goals, and document student outcomes.
  • Provide academic advising to adult learners in morning and evening classes related to student progress, goals, and referrals to community resources.
  • Assist students with transitioning to next steps in their job training and post secondary school transitions.
