Compliance & LCA Associate
Job Description
Compliance & LCA Associate
Location: Remote/Hybrid | San Francisco (In person Preferred)
Experience: 2–4 Years
Industry: Renewable Fuels, RNG, SAF, RD, Ethanol, Carbon Intensity & Regulatory Compliance
About Rimba
Rimba is a AI-powered data automation software for energy and heavy industries. For the renewable fuels industry, our software automates regulatory reporting, carbon intensity tracking, audit preparation, and operational analytics across standards such as LCFS, RFS, and international frameworks, i.e., RED III, ISCC.
We are a lean, high-impact team currently supporting multiple RNG projects, renewable fuels, and sustainable chemicals (including SAF, RD, Biodiesel) using automation to reduce manual compliance work while delivering audit-ready outputs.
The Role
We are hiring a highly driven Compliance & LCA Associate to join our core team and help scale compliance execution across renewable fuel projects, regulatory programs, and customer engagements. This is a hands-on, high-growth role designed for someone early in their career (around 2–4 years of experience) who combines strong fundamentals in carbon intensity, lifecycle analysis, and fuel compliance.
The ideal candidate understands regulatory frameworks such as RFS, LCFS, and Canadian CFR, and can bridge the gap between auditors, operators, and technical teams. As a candidate, you must be intellectually curious, scrappy, and able to learn quickly as regulations evolve and new markets/rule changes emerge.
This role is intentionally broad and impact-focused. You will work across compliance analytics, CI calculations, documentation, and client-facing workflows while collaborating closely with product and leadership.
Why This Role is Unique
- Join a high-caliber team working on real RNG, RD, SAF and other renewable projects
- Direct exposure to enterprise clients and regulated markets
- Work at the intersection of compliance, data, and automation rather than manual spreadsheet-driven reporting
- High ownership role with significant growth potential as the company scales globally
- High impact opportunity to shape cutting-edge, AI-native technology
- Competitive Salary
Key Responsibilities
- Perform lifecycle analysis (LCA), and carbon intensity (CI) calculations for renewable fuels projects, including RFS, LCFS, and Canadian low carbon fuel standards.
- Support regulatory reporting, compliance documentation, and audit preparation, ensuring all outputs are review-ready for internal teams and external regulators.
- Bridge the gap between auditors, operators, and internal teams to streamline compliance workflows and interpret evolving regulations.
- Collaborate with software/product teams to leverage automation tools for efficient compliance tracking, reporting, and data management.
- Stay up-to-date on emerging renewable fuel regulations and standards in the U.S., Canada, and potentially Europe, and adapt processes as standards evolve.
- Participate in client-facing engagements as needed, providing technical support and regulatory guidance.
- Contribute to a lean team culture by taking initiative, identifying efficiencies, and scaling processes without increasing headcount unnecessarily.
Qualifications:
Must-Have
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in renewable fuels, carbon markets, or environmental compliance.
- Hands-on experience with RFS, LCFS, and/or Canadian fuel regulations.
- Familiarity with CI calculators and lifecycle analysis frameworks (e.g., GREET, CA-GREET, mass balance)
- Strong problem-solving skills, self-starter mentality, and ability to adapt in a fast-changing regulatory environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with operators, auditors, and internal teams.
- Proven experience in consulting, operator, or hybrid roles where you navigated complex compliance workflows.
Nice-to-Have
- Exposure to ISCC, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions calculation, or other international sustainability certification standards.
- Experience with regulated fuel project development (RNG, biofuels, SAF).
- Experience with OpenLCA, Eco Invent, GHG Protocol is a plus.
- Chemical Engineer; Prior consulting experience
