The Ambulatory Float Registered Nurse (RN) works in variety of dynamic specialty clinics including, but not limited to, the following locations:  Charlton, Gonda, Mayo Clinic, NE Clinic, and the Support Center at Superior Drive.  Ambulatory floats provide both direct and non-direct patient care to support the unique needs of the clinical practice. Responsibilities may include patient education visits, patient care visits, providing immunizations, lab monitoring, prescription refills per protocol, performing limited procedures, point of care testing, and telephone based symptom assessment, triage, care by protocol among other skills.  The Ambulatory Float Pool supports 35 different RN practices serving patients from pediatrics through adulthood across a multitude of specialties.  An individual RN within the Ambulatory Float Pool will train and work in six to ten different practices or specialties based on FTE and practice mix.  Hours are Monday through Friday, with varied start times from 6 am to 8 am.  The majority of the schedule is 8-4:30 or 8-5 based on unit need.

The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The RN will function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, which includes accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and availability of resources. The RN possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and teaching; and may participate on committees or projects. The Ambulatory Registered Nurse (RN) is an essential and highly valued part of our outpatient surgical care team. You’ll work alongside surgeons, residents, and NPs/PAs and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional care to patients in the Breast and Melanoma surgical practice. This role offers the possibility of some remote work, giving you added flexibility and helping you maintain a healthy work–life balance.

As an RN in this practice, you’ll guide patients through both the preoperative and postoperative stages of their care journey. You’ll provide meaningful education, offer reassurance, and help patients understand their treatment plans. You’ll also collaborate with multiple specialties—including Breast Clinic, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Plastic Surgery—and support non–face-to-face triage through phone and portal messaging. Your work with the electronic health record and in‑basket system helps ensure smooth coordination, accurate order management, and efficient surgical scheduling.

Location: NE Clinic

The Hemodialysis Technician functions as an interdisciplinary team member to meet patient and family care needs within the Mayo Clinic Dialysis Services (MCDS) system. Under the supervision of the RN, is responsible for providing assistance in the provision of dialysis services through multiple roles. These roles include but are not limited to: direct patient care and observations, basic hemodialysis techniques and procedures, equipment maintenance, water treatment monitoring, vascular access monitoring, cleaning and disinfection of the hemodialysis machine, drawing blood samples and preparing them for transport, and performing both simple and complex laboratory tests and the required quality controls. Participation in quality improvement activities to maintain patient care standards is also expected. The Hemodialysis Technician carries out designated skills that are within these functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel, as written into the policies and procedures of Mayo Clinic.

High School diploma or equivalent required. Six months of experience as a Clinical Hemodialysis Technician required. Before employment, successful completion of the Ishihara's color blindness test.

Excellent communication skills. Computer skills. Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays and weekends. Ability to effectively work with multiple team members including working at/floating to other dialysis units. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.
