The Inpatient Surgery Department at Saint Mary’s Hospital is a 23-bed unit specializing in the pre- and post-operative care of patients undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures. These include, but are not limited to, bariatric, orthopedic, ortho-trauma, neuro-spine, mastectomy, urological, gynecological, and gastrointestinal surgeries.
Your Role
As a valued member of our multidisciplinary team, you will:
- Deliver direct, hands-on care to patients with complex surgical needs.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans focused on promoting recovery and restoring patients to their pre-surgical level of wellness.
- Provide exceptional care and support for patients requiring overnight or extended post-operative stays.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited program required; BSN preferred.
- Licensure: Current and valid Connecticut RN license.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year in an acute inpatient setting.
- Certifications: BLS or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.

- Provides full scope of direct and clinical services necessary to maximize the care for patients of all ages
- Appropriately communicates results of assessment or treatment program including written and/or verbal means. Aggressively works with patient, family, care provider to communicate patient status and progress, as well as providing adequate training
- Develops and maintains advanced clinical skills, including acknowledged area of expertise and multi-site/unit clinical service diversification.
