The Opportunity

As a dedicated auto adjuster, within defined guidelines and framework, you are responsible to adjust moderately complex auto insurance claims presented by or against our members to include the end-to-end claims process and settling claims in compliance with state laws and regulations. You are accountable for delivering best in class service, through setting appropriate expectations, proactive communications, advice, and empathy.

This hybrid role requires an individual to be in the office 3 days per week. This position can be based in San Antonio, TX. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

  • Investigates liability and applies appropriate coverage, evaluates, negotiates, and settles moderately complex auto claims.

  • Negotiates liability for comparative negligence (claimant or adverse carrier).

  • Identifies coverage concerns, reviews prior loss history, determines, and creates Special Investigation Unit (SIU) referrals, when appropriate.

  • Interacts with multiple parties to gather information needed to determine liability (police reports, recorded statements, witness statements).

  • Resolves claims through proactive problem solving and decision making, within authority guidelines and under moderate supervision, overcoming obstacles, and effectively prioritizing the workload.

  • Clearly documents thought process including damage evaluation, investigation, negotiation, and settlement decisions

  • Collaborates and sets expectations with external and internal business partners to facilitate claims resolution.

  • Supports members, business partners, and claimants, through use of varying communication channels to include utilization of digital tools to drive timely and effective resolutions through exceptional service.

  • Applies developing knowledge of P&C insurance industry products, services, to include P&C insurance policy contracts, coverages and internal claims handling process and procedures.

  • Applies intermediate knowledge of Auto Physical Damage to adjust claims.

  • Supports workload surges and catastrophe (CAT) response operations as needed, including mandatory on-call dates and potential evening, weekend, and/or holiday work outside normal work hours.

  • May be assigned CAT deployment travel with minimal notice during designated CATs.

  • Works various types of claims, including ones of higher complexity, and may be assigned additional work outside normal duties as needed.

  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.

  • 1 year of customer service experience.

  • Progressive experience handling low complexity auto non injury liability claims.

  • Acquisition and maintenance of insurance adjuster license within 90 days and 3 attempts.

  • Developing knowledge and understanding of auto claims contracts as well as application of case law and state laws and regulations.

  • Demonstrated negotiation, investigation, communication, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Proficient in prioritizing and multi-tasking, including navigating through multiple business applications.

The Opportunity

As a dedicated Life Actuary Senior, you will lead advanced actuarial analyses and provide strategic insight into our reinsurance programs across Life and Annuity product portfolios.  This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic influence, supporting the optimization of reinsurance structures that manage risk, enhance capital efficiency, and drive long-term profitability.

This role is remote eligible in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel. However, individuals residing within a 60-mile radius of a USAA office will be expected to work on-site four days per week.

  • Perform complex and often unique work assignments utilizing actuarial modeling software driven models for pricing, valuation, and/or risk management.
  • Review laws and regulations to ensure all processes are compliant and provides recommendations for improvements. Monitor industry communications regarding potential changes to existing laws and regulations.

Performs radiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Job Summary and Qualifications

Our 14-bed Neuro Critical Care Unit (NCCU) is a cutting-edge, high-acuity environment specializing in the management of critically ill neurological and neurosurgical patients. NCCU plays a vital role in providing advanced care for stroke, spinal cord injuries, lumbar drains, seizures, and other complex neurological conditions.

- Expert-Level Care: Work in a Primary Stroke Center, providing rapid, life-saving interventions, including mechanical thrombectomy, continuous EEG monitoring, and advanced neuroimaging.

- Interdisciplinary Team Collaboration: Partner with intensivists, neurosurgeons, stroke specialists, respiratory therapists, and rehabilitation teams to optimize patient outcomes.
- Professional Growth: Access ongoing education in neurocritical care nursing, stroke management, and advanced neurological assessments, with opportunities for certification (CNRN, SCRN).

Your Role in the NCCU:

- Provide expert care for patients with acute ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury (TBI), status epilepticus, and post-neurosurgical recovery.
- Perform frequent neurological assessments, monitor for signs of deterioration, and intervene rapidly to prevent secondary brain injury.
- Manage advanced therapies, including ventilators, continuous EEG, and vasoactive medications.
- Educate patients and families on neurological conditions, rehabilitation expectations, and recovery pathways.

What qualifications you will need:

- Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program.
- Minimum of six (6) months of clinical experience as a licensed Registered Nurse required
- One (1) year of critical care experience as a licensed Registered Nurse preferred
- Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date)
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification
