Westover Hills is a154 bed hospital with state-of-the art technology that offers a full scope of specialized services to include Women’s care, In-patient and Out-patient Surgical Services, (including Robotic and Cardiovascular surgery), Imaging, ICU, Dialysis, Interventional Cardiology and 24/7 emergency care.
Perioperative Services at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Westover Hills is presentlyoperating1 CVOR, 6 ORs, 2 Endo suites, 11 PACU beds, 20 SDS beds and the Sterile Processing Department. We support a variety of specialties including, General, Colorectal, GYN, Ortho, Spine, Vascular, Robotic, Urology, Bariatrics, Plastics, Gastroenterology, Interventional Radiology, Infusion/Transfusion services, as well as Interventional Cardiology. The Peri-Anesthesia department consists of Pre-Op, PACU (Phase I) and Phase II Recovery. All the Peri-Anesthesia nurses at Westover are cross-trained to work all three areas and float to each area within out department. This unique approach requires a positive attitude and flexibility as nurses may float to more than one Peri-Anesthesia area during their shift to cover the needs of the department. This model of nursing care works extremely well for productivity and gives the Peri-Anesthesia nurse a holistic approach to the Perioperative experience while providing cohesion as one team. Peri-Anesthesia Nursing is a unique type of nursing specialty as we provide the “before” and “after” care for patients that have had surgery or other types of procedures requiring anesthesia. We bridge the gap between floor nurses and OR/Procedure Nurses. The care that we give patients in the Perioperative setting is crucial to positive patient outcomes. Our policies are based on the standards develop by ASPAN (American Society of Peri-Anesthesia Nurses) which is our professional organization that helps define and establish the scope of Peri-Anesthesia nursing.
Summary:
The competent Nurse, in the same or similar clinical setting, practices independently and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care, with the ability to on long-range goals or plans. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as a means to help manage the clinical situation.
Responsibilities:
