  • Manage all project engineering activities that comply with the company's process, procedures, and contractual requirements.
  • Maintain project submittal process to ensure timely receipt, review and approval of submittals and shop drawings, as-builts, and other contract required documentation.
  • Manage and maintain the project RFI process to ensure timely receipt, review, response close out.
  • Implement effective project quality control and quality assurance plans to ensure work is constructed in compliance and is accurately documented through clear and traceable records keeping and reporting.
  • Provide technical support for, construction planning, interpretation of design and the development of efficient construction methods.
  • Manage the process to develop and produce required design, drawings, engineering calcs, for project components or activities such as crane/hoisting lifts, temporary structures or works, falsework, shoring, formwork, safety systems, etc.
  • Manage project close-out including, timely management of punch list, commissioning, and transitional system operations turnover.

Qualifications:

  • Four-year engineering or construction management degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.
  • Proficient computer knowledge including Microsoft Office, BlueBeam. Preferred experience utilizing HCSS HeavyJob, Vista, CAD, P6.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in heavy civil construction.
  • Comprehensive understanding of civil construction industry practices and standards.
  • Must be able to freely access all parts of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.

  • Make sure to adhere to the completion of proposals to clients at least 21 days from renewal.
  • Present proposal to customer, ensuring appropriate team members and resources are represented/attend.
  • Ensure proper resources within the organization are involved with the customer and introduce new products through the other core business groups, where appropriate.
  • Develop service plan and timeline for each client. Implement and monitor service plan.
  • Conduct 360 Risk Index where applicable. Annual Stewardship Report should be part of plan.
  • Complete accountability for client receipt of all client life cycle deliverables as described in client management outline.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Project Architect takes the vision of the design team and leads the production team to create a biddable, buildable, code-compliant set of construction documents.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Prepare detailed drawings of architectural designs and plans for buildings and structures according to specifications provided by architect.

• Monitor and oversee the construction documentation process including reviewing and approving shop drawings.

• Analyze building codes, space and site requirements, and other technical documents and reports to determine their effect on architectural designs.

• Meet with external contacts including clients, contractors, and engineers to identify and resolve problems.

• Meet with internal contacts including designers, production staff, project managers and architect of record to clarify design intent and streamline documentation process.

• Perform site visits at the construction site to confirm compliance with construction documents.

• Review and comment on applications for payment and change order requests.

• Perform code analysis and develop code strategies.

• Mark up and review shop drawings.

• Perform other related duties as required.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in architecture; or, equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 10 or more years of experience in Architecture required.

• Registered Architect License required.

• NCARB Certification preferred.

• AIA membership preferred.

• LEED AP BD+C accreditation preferred.

CORE COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit.

• Knowledge of office standards and building codes.

• General knowledge of construction.

• Project management and organizational skills.

• Good judgement and decision-making skills.

• Problem solving skills with ability to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions to complex problems.

• Leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills to lead teams and interact with clients.

PHYSICAL FACTORS:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

• Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.

• Construction site visits occur frequently and may require walking on uneven, rough terrain at times.

WORKING REQUIREMENTS (Travel Requirements, Overtime, Shifts, On-Call, etc.):

• This position may require work outside of typical working hours in order to respond to/address any issues that arise.

• Minimal travel to job sites and client meetings is required.
