Position Summary

- Work in a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) within a children's hospital environment
- Unit has 32 beds with an average daily census of 21 patients
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
- Patient population includes post-op open hearts, single ventricles, complex cardiac anatomy and physiology, heart transplant, and heart failure cases
- Specialized procedures include invasive cardiac monitoring (CVP, ART, RA), ECMO and CRRT exposure, vasopressors, cardiac and sedation drips
- Night shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts per week from 19:00 to 07:00

Requirements

- Active NE or Compact RN license required
- Minimum of 2 years of pediatric cardiac ICU experience
- Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required
- Experience with invasive cardiac monitoring and cardiac drips preferred
- Pediatric experience required

- Unit is open to first-time travelers
- Role involves caring for high-acuity pediatric cardiac patients including those with heart transplants and complex cardiac needs

POSITION SUMMARY:

CUSTOMER SERVICE

* Provide excellent customer and patient service according to company and Optical Center standards

* Analyze patient eyewear needs

* Recommend specific lenses, lens coatings and frames to satisfy patient needs

* Assist patients in selecting frames according to style and color. Ensure frames are coordinated with facial and eye measurements and optical prescriptions

* Order and dispense eyewear accurately and professionally

* Assist patients with proper frame repairs and adjustments

* Show patients how to insert, remove and care for their contact lenses

* Assist Optometrist with case histories and screenings

BUSINESS AND OPERATIONAL STANDARDS

* Maintain a complete knowledge of third-party plans and claims

* Explain promotions and special lens offerings to patients and customers

* Balance accounts

* Prepare work orders containing specific instructions for Optical Lab

* Process medical billing information

* Ensure proper merchandising of frame inventory

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

Creighton University in Omaha, NE is seeking to hire a Postdoctoral Fellow for the newly opened Hair Cell Damage and Protection Lab.


The position provides opportunities to develop independent research projects on auditory neuroscience, career development, and gain hands-on experience with advanced techniques including calcium imaging, super-resolution microscopy, auditory brain stem response (ABR), and RNA-seq.


The position also offers training and mentoring in science communication, leadership development, and project management. This position is a fully grant funded for 3 years. starting as soon as July 2025.



Key Responsibilities



  • Assist the Principal Investigator in setting up calcium imaging and ABR equipment for experiments
  • Working with the PI and team, design and execute research in rats and zebrafish, including ABR, calcium and/or confocal imaging, pharmacology, and behavior
  • Present research findings at conferences, write manuscripts and grants, conduct outreach with interested stakeholders (science cafes, blogs, video, etc.)
  • Mentor undergraduates, graduate students, and/or technicians.


Qualifications



  • PhD in neuroscience, cell biology, or relevant field (will consider expected graduates in the next few months)
  • First-authored paper(s) published or forthcoming in peer-reviewed neuroscience or related biomedical journals AND
  • 4 years of experience with animal experiments
  • Experience with calcium imaging and RNA-seq preferred
  • Strong background in hearing research
