Evaluating potential financial and legal exposure for insureds and for the company.
Carrying out discovery tasks such as drafting and responding to written discovery, issuing subpoenas, reviewing records, taking depositions, preparing motions, coordinating with experts, and gathering witness information.
Breaking down liability and damages issues, outlining available defenses, suggesting case strategy, and offering value assessments when needed.
Handling all court-related appearances and proceedings, as well as participating in mediations and settlement efforts.
Keeping clients and Claims staff informed of case movement and significant developments.
Providing written and verbal legal analysis on claims-related questions.
Negotiating resolutions with opposing counsel or outside parties.
Assisting teammates with their files when necessary.
Delivering training sessions or presentations to attorneys or Claims personnel.
Taking on additional duties that support evolving business needs.
Requirements: JD from an accredited institution.
Missouri law license required; Kansas admission is beneficial.
At least seven years of litigation experience.
Experience serving as first chair in jury trials.
Ability to manage a substantial and varied caseload efficiently.
Strong communication abilities, both written and verbal.
Capacity to work with minimal oversight and maintain consistent judgment and initiative.
