Evaluates, administers and directs the administration of therapeutic procedures utilized in physical medicine and rehabilitation, as prescribed by a referring practitioner.  Establishes goals of physical therapy and reassess this patient's progress at regular, timely intervals, supporting findings with appropriate documentation.

Francis Marion University?s School of Health Sciences invite applications for a Didactic Coordinator for the Physician Assistant Program. This is a twelve-month, full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor. The Didactic Coordinator, as a key member of the leadership team, will have teaching responsibilities, as well as support program assessment and instruction efforts in collaboration with the program director.

**Faculty may designate a practice/clinic day that works within the class schedule/department processes. (The practice/clinic day at times may be modified or changed depending on Program/curriculum needs)

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee implementation of curricular design, mapping and coordination of scheduling of program and faculty (to include adjunct faculty).
  • Serve as chair of the PA Program?s Academic Curriculum and Student Affairs and Progress Committee (SAPC). Advise other committees as needed.
  • Support program director with accreditation documentation and problem-solving activities related to the didactic and clinical curriculum.
  • Review, revise, and assist in the development of programmatic instruments including reports and surveys.
  • Assist in the admission, success, remediation, and retention of physician assistant students during the didactic and clinical educational training.
  • Teach, evaluate, and advise didactic physician assistant students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the program director and his/her designee.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior teaching experience in a PA Program (or the equivalent)
  • Prior experience with accreditation and/or curriculum development within a PA Program (or the equivalent)
  • Additional years of full-time experience in a PA Program beyond the requirements
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching, advising, and mentoring.
  • Doctoral degree in a related field (e.g., DMSc, DHSc, PhD, EdD, M.D., D.O.)
  • Licensure or eligibility for South Carolina licensure as an advanced practice provider.
  • NCCPA board certification.

The Physician Assistant Program is in the new, state of the art, Luther F. Carter Center for Health Sciences building, which is also home to FMU?s Graduate Nursing, Graduate Psychology, and Occupational Therapy programs. Located directly across the street in the Hugh and Jean Leatherman Medical Education Complex, is the FMU Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) program and in-house Psychology ABA and SLP clinics.
