Overview:

The Safety Manager is responsible for the coordination and administration of Safety programs activities and projects to support business objectives. He/She will partner with Project Managers and Superintendents to ensure they focus on the elements of key risk with respect to EHS. He/She must provide day-to-day guidance to local management and staff in the continued building of a strong culture of safety.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Ensure environmental, health & safety standards are met by coordinating, promoting and conducting various programs within the Liberty EHS management system.
• Support a strong safety culture by reviewing activities and verifying company safety standards, policies and procedures are being complied with.
• Operate independently and provide honest and objective feedback immediately to management where non-compliance with standards, policies and procedures is observed.
• Work closely with site leadership to coordinate training and development program for the employees.
• Grow organizational competencies by providing advice, training and counsel in areas of EHS.
• Advising local operations regarding compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA and local safety and health regulations.
• Performs administrative tasks related to project specific safety binder and document storage systems.
• Coordinates, schedules, and facilitates Trade Partner’s Pre-Construction Safety Planning Meetings.
• Reviews trade partner Site Specific Safety Programs and Job Hazard Analysis prior to subcontractor mobilization.
• Attends/leads Toolbox Talks conducted by trade partners to assure documentation and quality.
• Reviews documentation from subcontractors for the proper training of their employees as related to the scope of work.
• Conducts training for OSHA 10 or 30 Hour, HAZWOPER, and other Safety related topics.
• Other duties as assigned by the Regional Director or Senior Safety Manager

Qualifications:

• 5-10 years self-perform commercial construction experience.
• Self-perform concrete experience.
• Bachelor's/University Degree in Health & Safety, Construction Management or equivalent experience and certifications
• Travel Requirements: 0-5%
• Licenses/Certifications: Driver’s License
• Technical Skills: Microsoft Office Suite, OSHA 30/40 hour
• Bilingual (Spanish/English)
• Ability to work weekends as needed
• Ability to work flexible schedules in order to coordinate with operations

Working Conditions:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Site Safety Manager is a field-based position that is responsible for safety and health-related to construction activities on multiple projects. The position will serve as a representative of the company in a professional manner that embodies our core values. The position is responsible to provide oversight of construction activities, monitoring contractor compliance to the safety program and applicable regulatory and legal requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to ethics, integrity, and a high level of accountability for the success of the safety program and the project(s) as a whole. This individual will foster a culture of commitment and accountability, at all levels, to achieve health and safety excellence through the planning, implementation, execution, and continuous improvement of the safety program. The position requires a thorough understanding of all aspects of construction, its phases, processes, management, and leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The requirements listed below are representative of the experience, knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to perform this job.

1. Educational Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, or related fields. Relevant work experience may be used in lieu for the right candidate.

2. Current Professional Certification Required: CSP, ASP, CHST, OSHT, GSP, or similar from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) or similar accredited organization.

3. Work Experience:

a. 10 Years of relevant work experience in construction safety, and

b. 5 years of supervisory experience in construction safety (or equivalent).

• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

• Must be willing to travel to multiple worksite locations in the region.

• Must be able to work individually and as part of a team.

• Ability to plan and organize daily schedule and activities to meet assigned duties.

• Extensive knowledge of OSHA 1910 & 1926 regulations, NFPA, NEC, and ANSI standards as they apply to construction activities.

• Solid understanding of industrial hygiene at construction sites.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Oversee and conduct safety observations and inspections of construction management and contractor activities at construction project sites to ensure compliance with the safety program and applicable standards. Identify and report compliance issues to construction management and contractors for corrective action.

• Conducts safety audits of construction projects. Identify and report compliance issues to construction management and contractors for corrective action.

• Review contractor method statements and ensure alignment with project standards and health and safety requirements. Participate in meetings with contractors and subcontractors to ensure health and safety issues are adequately addressed.

• Review investigations of serious contractor construction incidents to ensure contractor determines causative factors and takes actions to prevent recurrence.

• Review contractor work and safety plans associated with construction projects and identify issues for resolution. Attend pre-activity construction meetings and regular joint operations/construction project coordination meetings.

• Monitor construction management and contractor activities at construction project sites to ensure compliance with project safety plans. Identify and report compliance issues to construction management and contractors for corrective action.

• Maintain safety and performance metrics and regularly reports on program effectiveness.

• Manage construction safety audit program and reporting.

• Complete daily reports to document events, findings, observations, and major tasks as they relate to safety, health, and the overall status of the project.

• Partners with client construction teams.

• Reports to client Corporate Construction Safety Manager.

The Location Manager will be required to fully understand all aspects of his/her location(s), build positive relationships with the client and increase the efficiencies and business within their delivery operations. • Achieve Location Margin goals
• Rental car vs mileage reimbursement
• Communicate effectively with the DIA, DIM and client staff
• Lead Daily Stand-ups (Short, Effective and informative meetings) – (Document and include feedback in recap)
• Weekly ride behinds in field with teams to ensure client satisfaction and training – (Document and include in recap)
• Showroom visits as needed in order to build/maintain relationship with client
• Maintain tote inventory and hold BP’s accountable (trade stock)
• Enforce and adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Responsible for loadout / warehouse oversight of QC with getting teams off dock
• Actively route monitor teams from the road (see SOP for details)
• Hold Weekly Operations Meetings with the DIA to review aging invoices and any issues/goals – (Document and include in recap)
• Hold BP meetings as needed to review claims, settlements, compliance, etc.
• Participate in Client and internal conference calls
• Provide Weekly updates on your locations. Weekly recap should include:
• Your schedule for the week
• Summarized update of location(s)
• Standup recap
• Ride behind recap
• Aging invoices update (if applicable)
