Our Client is a leading global investment management firm and is seeking a Senior Asset Management Counsel to join its legal team. This individual will play a key role advising across portfolio management and capital development functions, working closely with senior leadership and business stakeholders.

About the Role


The Senior Asset Management Counsel will serve in a lead legal capacity, supporting a broad range of matters related to portfolio manager lifecycle management and fund/investor functions. The role requires an Asset Management Attorney who can navigate complex legal issues while partnering closely with investment, capital development, and executive teams.


Responsibilities


  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including investment management agreements, employment-related agreements, and other portfolio manager documentation
  • Lead legal aspects of portfolio manager onboarding and offboarding processes
  • Support all phases of fund formation and capital development initiatives
  • Prepare, review, and negotiate fund documentation, including side letters and placement agent agreements
  • Manage and maintain side letter processes and related documentation
  • Assist with investor communications and legal inquiries
  • Advise on strategic transactions, including private equity investments, financing arrangements, and regulatory matters
  • Partner closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, including investment, finance, and business development
  • Oversee and manage external counsel and other legal advisors


Qualifications


  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar admission
  • 8–10+ years of experience in investment management, funds, or asset management law
  • Strong experience with fund formation, investor negotiations, and related legal frameworks
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-demand environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work across all levels of an organization
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively
