Developmental Pediatrician / Developmental Pediatrician Section Chief

Carilion Children’s is seeking a Developmental Pediatrician or Developmental Pediatrician Section Chief to join—and help lead—our growing Child Development Clinic, a statewide resource supported by the Maternal and Child Health Services Title V Block Grant through the Virginia Department of Health.
This position is being recruited to support significant program growth driven by increasing regional need, expanded partnerships, and Carilion’s commitment to improving access to developmental and neurodevelopmental care for children across Virginia.
This role is based at Carilion Children’s Tanglewood Center, our pediatric multidisciplinary center of excellence, serving as a hub for integrated pediatric subspecialty care, therapy, and family-centered services.
About the Opportunity

Carilion Children’s is western Virginia’s primary pediatric referral center, anchored by:
- A 60-bed NICU/intermediate nursery

- Dedicated pediatric emergency department
- 19 pediatric subspecialty clinics and robust ancillary services
Faculty appointments are available through the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM), with research opportunities in collaboration with the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute (FBRI) and other Virginia Tech partners.
Leadership Track – Section Chief Opportunity
For candidates with 5+ years of experience, the Section Chief role offers an opportunity to lead during a pivotal expansion period.

About UT Tyler School of Medicine:
The UT Health East Texas system is comprised of nine hospitals, more than 90 physician clinics, over 500 employed providers, 13 regional rehabilitation facilities, two freestanding emergency centers, six urgent care clinics, regional home health services covering 41 counties, an EMS fleet of more than 60 ambulances and four helicopters, and a comprehensive seven-trauma center care network, including a Level 1 trauma center. Our primary service area has a population of over 600,000.
The University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine is the first medical school in East Texas and the seventh in The University of Texas System. Its mission is to train future healthcare professionals to embrace responsibility for the unique needs of rural and hard-to-reach communities and populations, particularly those in East Texas.
The school offers a robust Graduate Medical Education program, with 20 residency and fellowship training programs, enabling graduates to gain specialized skills in areas such as family medicine, internal medicine, neurology, psychiatry, surgery, and anesthesia. About Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children
Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai‘i’s only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawai'i’s leader in the care of women, infants and children. With 253 beds, the not-for-profit medical center delivers an average of 6,000 babies per year and is also a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawai'i and the Pacific region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,400 employees and more than 700 physicians provide specialty care at Kapi‘olani. The medical center is home to the Kapi‘olani Women’s Center and the Women’s Cancer Center, and offers numerous community programs and services, such as specialty pediatric clinics, the Kapi‘olani Child Protection Center and the Sex Abuse Treatment Center.

Board Eligibility/Certification Requirement: In accordance with our hospital bylaws, all employed physicians must achieve Board Eligibility or Board Certification from a recognized U.S. specialty board within five years of completing an ACGME-accredited residency program.

About Practice

· Starting Base Salary: $500,000–$550,000 + RVU incentives
