A day in the life of a Certified Respiratory Therapist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Assists in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of all patients with pulmonary disorders in both critical and non-critical areas pursuant to a prescription of a licensed physician.
  • Performs cardiopulmonary evaluation, monitoring, respiratory therapy treatment techniques, respiratory procedures and patients and family education.
  • Responsible for the acquisition, analysis and interpretation of data obtained from physiological specimens, performing diagnostic tests, studies and research of the cardiopulmonary system and neurophysiological studies related to respiratory care.
  • Administers and/or monitors medical gases, mechanical ventilation support, artificial airway care, bronchopulmonary hygiene, pharmacologic agents related to respiratory care procedures, and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation related and limited to respiratory care.
  • Utilizes the application of scientific principles for the identification, prevention, remediation, research, and rehabilitation of acute or chronic cardiopulmonary dysfunction.
  • Administers therapeutic Respiratory Care procedures and sets up related Respiratory Care equipment as prescribed by the physician.
  • Records all pertinent information of provided therapeutic procedures and patient response in the electronic medical record system, EPIC.
  • Sets up, verifies proper function, operates and monitors all invasive and non-invasive respiratory equipment on patients in need of respiratory assistance.

Responsibilties:

A day in the life of a Multi Modality CT Technologist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Performs complex CT procedures.
  • Evaluates radiographs to ensure that radiographs contain proper identification and are of diagnostic value.
  • Uses consistent and appropriate techniques to gather relevant information from the medical record, health care proxy and health care providers to prepare protocols for scanning and patient safety. The collection of information is determined by the patient's needs or condition.
  • Determines whether the patient has been appropriately prepared for the procedure.
  • Preps patient for scanning: (i.e. shielding, immobilization devices).
  • Assist providers with CT guided Interventional procedures as required.
  • Perform CT examination and administer contrast following established departmental protocols.
  • Provides accurate explanations and instructions at any appropriate time and at a level the patient can understand. Addresses and documents patient questions and concerns regarding the procedure when appropriate.
  • Performs venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures according to established guidelines.
  • Monitors the patient's physical condition during the procedure. 
  • Reviews images to determine if additional scans will enhance the diagnostic value of the procedure.
  • Performs retrospective reconstruction on raw data.
  • Provides technical assistance and instruction to students, employees, and medical residents.
  • Adheres to the principals of image gently & image wisely.
  • Follow & adheres to infection control guidelines and sterile techniques.
  • Revises scanning parameters to better visualize the pathology in accordance with established protocol.
  • Reviews all diagnostic or therapeutic data for completeness and accuracy. 
  • Documents diagnostic, treatment, and patient data in the appropriate record.
  • Archives images to data storage devices according to established guidelines.
  • Assesses equipment to determine acceptable performance based on established guidelines.
  • Performs daily clerical duties, which includes the use of EPIC, PACS, Teletracking System, computer system, patient scheduling, and other computer systems as added by hospital.
  • Greets all patients when they arrive for their exam utilizing AIDET standards.
  • Administers emergency care including performing CPR, if necessary. 
  • Responsible for scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends.
  • Overtime as needed to provide continual quality patient care. 
  • On call assignments as needed per Department of Radiology policy.
  • Adheres to the policy of Employee ID, Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality.
  • Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and /or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.). 
  • Performs modality specific daily and monthly QA.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

  • Performs all duties of the Medical Assistant (see job description).
  • Schedules all medical assistant and clerical staff in order to achieve optimum patient/customer service, to expedite work flow collaborating with clerical coordinator to ensure full office/clinical functioning.
  • Coordinates with/assists clerical coordinator with daily front end functions such as but not limited to scheduling, registration, verification of benefits, and authorizations for testing and procedures.
  • Makes recommendation to correct Quality Assurance problems and ensures employees are providing quality clinical care to patients. 
  • Assists with training of medical assistant staff on related services. Ensure medical assistants can perform the specialized testing required for quality patient care. These include but are not limited to A1C testing, blood glucose monitor downloading and all other required point of care testing.
  • Assists with staff proficiency and competency assessment in performing these tests on an ongoing basis. Informs management if additional education is needed, and provides feedback to nurse coordinator/manager on staff proficiency on an ongoing basis.
  • Orients MA staff in the use of current and future monitoring equipment and equipment upgrades.
  • Ensures that the equipment is in working order, maintained properly and logbooks are up to date including calibration of equipment used for daily functioning of each clinic. Places proper work orders to correct any identified issues and teaches staff on this process so all are empowered to care for the work areas to ensure proper patient care. Delegates as necessary to share responsibilities and knowledge. 
  • Ensures departmental policies and procedures are followed.
  • Coordinates the unit statistical data collection, reviews results, and makes recommendations for improvement based on the analysis. 
  • Consults with the nurse coordinator/manager in response to patient and physician complaints, following through to resolution. 
  • Participates in the budget process in collaboration with the nurse coordinator/manager. Monitors expenditures to ensure compliance with approved budget.
  • Delegates responsibilities to MA staff in order to develop their potential and follows up on performance.
  • Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e. age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, family member and/or primary care giver at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.). 
  • Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.

The Marketing and Hospital Liaison represents Marion Rehabilitation within the Marion-area healthcare community. Key Responsibilities

Hospital & Referral Relations

  • Represent Marion Rehabilitation at Marion-area hospitals, serving as the primary contact for discharge planners, case managers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Conduct hospital visits to assess potential residents, explain services, and coordinate admissions in collaboration with the internal admissions team.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with hospitals, physicians, and other referral partners to drive census growth and strengthen referral pipelines.

Community Engagement

  • Plan, organize, and host community-based events both on and off site to promote Marion Rehabilitation's services and enhance community visibility.
  • Represent the facility at local health fairs, senior events, and networking functions.

Marketing & Outreach

  • Track referral trends, admissions, and outreach efforts, providing regular updates to leadership.

Customer Service & Communication

Hackensack Meridian Health Carrier Clinic’s East Mountain Youth Lodge provides a continuum of out of home residential treatment services for adolescents between the ages of 13-18. We provide 24 hour clinical, therapeutic treatment for emotional, behavioral, psychiatric and substance abuse difficulties based on the resident strengths and needs.


Responsibilties:

1. Directly supervises and knows the whereabouts of every resident they are assigned. 2. Supervises, observes, and participates with residents in the carrying out of the daily routine (i.e. chores). Consistently implements all program procedures (i.e. point systems, level systems).

3. Runs activity, support and recreation groups with guidance from clinical staff. Organizes, supervises and conducts planned activities for groups and individuals. Provides assistance to residents in the planning of appropriate recreational activities.

4. Serves as a primary counselor for an assigned number of residents.

5. Assists residents in learning home management skills (cooking, cleaning, etc). Teaches residents about the importance of cleanliness, good nutrition, meal planning, prudent buying, etc., while guiding them in learning skill mastery.

6. Corrects client behavior by administering reasonable and fair disciplinary measures when necessary. Ensures each resident is informed of the rules and regulations of the program.

7. Provides crisis intervention to residents as needed. Assists in escorts and personal restraints of agitated residents. Attentive to building security and performs such checks as designed by the program.

8. Conducts resident room checks and room searches as designed by the program.

9. Carries a beeper for one week in rotation. Is on-call and ready to respond to staff shortages by calling and locating a replacement and/or filling the shift him/herself.

10. Inspects and handles belongings and valuables of residents to ensure that prohibited material is not brought into the Lodge at admission, upon return from pass, or as clinically indicated, under the direction of a Shift Leader.

11. Assists residents with daily living activities (i.e.; waking up, hygiene, cleaning room, participating in structure, behaving appropriately on activity).

12. Provides input to administration members regarding unit-based PI measures based on concerns, high risk, high volume issues.

13. Ensures that paperwork is completed accurately and within procedural time limits. 14. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

15. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.


Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Co-Occurring (Wolf), RTC (Eagle, Butterfly) Will have one of the following qualifications: (1) High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs with one year of experience working with youth in a group setting. (2) An Associate's or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a field that is unrelated to social work or psychology with six months of experience working with youth in a group setting. (3) An Associate's or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, or a related field.
  • PCH (Lotus, Sunflower) Bachelor's Degree or High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs, with three or more years of experience providing direct care to youth in a behavioral health agency or institutional setting
  • IRTS Level of Care (Swan) Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent, with one year of experience providing direct care to youth in a behavioral health agency or institutional setting.
  • Complete Shift Leader and Medication Administration training.
  • Maintains standards of confidentiality
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
